And no, I don't. I like the BQC preamps from the NS5crfms the best, and I think that's what the ns2000s have.

See Sam! Your first impression was correct... NS-2A.

PJ and I discussed it. The bridge ground wire is a big indicator here. They've never set the Euro models up for passive pups (meaning neck-thru models).

My argument was that it could have been a newer bass that was put together and the date is only because an older circuit got put in it. But PJ seems to lean towards NS-2A.

The only issue I have with the NS-2A is that it's figured like some of the early Czech basses... the body is too figured for the NS-2A. Any of you with clear finishes can see that the wood is rather plain.

And the neck where the headstock meets is more Euro-looking. That more rounded transition into the headstock is a Euro thing. My NS-2A has a very firm ridge just like my USA NS-2 and NS-4 models.

From what I can see of that wiring, I don't believe those to be active pups. Not even sure they're EMG's, or even the same brand (green outer covering?).

EDIT: Non-active pups. The lighter green wire is a ground headed to the bridge.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is even an early, transitional Euro (NSCR). The body wood doesn't look that spectacular to me. I've seen stripped NS2A's that looked as good. Plus, why would it have the plastic nut? Why throw the brass "original" away? Plus x2: white "Spector" truss rod cover.

NJ Guitar and Bass had a Kramer Era NS-2. It was Quilted Blue color. I was there and played it a few months back.

It is no longer on their website but you may want to give them a call just to see if they still have it.

WOW there's some eye candy there. Some great basses. where was this place when I lived there? lol. There was a cool place in easton PA I used to go that had all kinds of cool stuff and a good stock of spectors.

NJ Guitar Center has been around since the 80's.
They do have tons of stuff. The store is about the size of someones living room with about 700 guitars and basses in stock.

But you are in Central Florida?
Are you near Basscentral?

Is there any particular reason why sometimes places don't list a price, and have you call to find out?
I've never understood that but seen it around a bunch in catalogs and on websites like theirs

With "New" items sometimes retailers have contracts with manufactuers not to advertise a product below a certain price.
(this is for all products not just music items)

But with "Used" items I dont understand why places do this.

Yeah. Weird. An Ian Hill model would actually be a Kramer-Era reissue... so would a Wimbish for that matter. But why not just say, "Ian Hill Signature Model"?

Anyone call on the Brooklyn NS-2 yet? I'd be curious to see what they are asking.

What is the MOST you guys would pay for a used Legend Custom or NS2000/5?

Used in really good shape? $400-$500 for the NS2000/5
around $500-$600 for the Legend Custom depending on the age. If it is really recent, might be willing to go $650...
Considering that they were around $800-$900 in store with a $1149 manufacturers list (for a 5-string).

I just pulled those numbers out of the air... but I think they are fair.

Yeah I did see the bridge ground wire when I sent the photos to PJ last night, after my post. But you definitely called that.

I just haven't ever seen an NS-2A with figuring on the body like that. Unless it's one of the prototypes like PJ suggested.

I bet if I stripped the gloss black off my NS-2A the body would NOT look like that.

But like I said, I've seen plenty of early Czech basses with that level of figuring.

Also the listing says "Figured Mahogany". Which is all wrong. That bass would weigh a lot more than 8lbs if it had solid figured Mahogany wings. So it must me another case of wrong data... that's maple.

Yeah lived in NJ for a few years. I'm about 15min from bass central. they don't have as much out as they used to but you can't blame them for that.

When I was there I asked about the Brooklyn NS-2
If I remember correctly it was either $3,300 or $3,800.
It didnt register 100% in my memory since it was way out of my price zone.

Can't tell how deep it is or whether it's just a trick of the light. Might make it a bit uncomfortable to play.

And about a half-inch chip in the body near the bridge.

Wait another day and you can order a replacement Euro Bridge with intonation screws. They're here. Just got clearance from PJ to list them on the SPECTOR site. So no need to route your "Dougie" for a USA. Put a new Euro bridge with intonation screws in it.

Random thought after playing the XL today: if the US Hazlab circuit was 3-band instead of just 2-band, it would probably be my favorite pre ever.
