That looks like one of the discontinued Performer 4 DLXs.

Did you get pics of the back?

I think the later ones all had the matte black finish on the necks.

Mine is Matte Black with a trans-black stain on the top which really makes that bass for me.

If only the pick-ups weren't so quiet & dull. My NS2-A is another story...:bassist:

I'd use the preamp with the EMG's and sell the Spector pickups. It's a drop in with EMG's except that you have to splice the pickups to the battery for power. I can't remember exactly how it went, but it was simple. A tech will know what to do. I've had it done to 3 basses now and that preamp sounds great!! VERY close to the US 9volt circuit....

I'm not sure yet. I'm digging this tone so much right now that I'm leaning on another Performer but in Black but who knows.

I'm not GASing for an extension cabinet for my GK210

So may be a dumb question but I play mostly in C# and C Standard tunings so would Ernie Ball Power Slinkies be good for that tuning? I used the guitar versions on my Les Paul for years for that tuning but I actually know little about the difference in bass strings. :hmm:

Ya my dlx has that same neck. what years did they make them like that? Every picture I look at they are just natural wood with some lacquer. I love my DLX altho I think I want to to upgrade the pups, the low sting is a little quiet.

Fender 5's have 18mm string spacing typically. Spector spacing is much tighter (unless you find one with 19mm).

That wouldn't be my first choice. I would go with a hex core string. It will be a little tighter. IMO

Check out DR's , hi beams, Lo riders or sunbeams. Great strings imo. A 110-115 low "e" should work fine. That's what I use on my 4, and I tune to drop b on occasion

DR's are great. Hibeams and Sunbeams are both round core though. I would probably stick with Lowriders. They also have the DDT series which is made for drop tuning but I have no experence with those.

And I agree. Going with a slightly thicker gauge will help. :)
