I could do that... I'm pretty good at soldering - being a radio tech and all...
Just not sure if I wanna mod one of the best basses I've ever had... just to find out what someone else may have already tried, ya know?
If I was absolutely sure that's the pre I wanted, I would have no problems installing it - mentally or mechanically.
it would look like a stock OEM install when finished, too. :D

I wouldn't put it in the hill. Maybe consider it in the legend? You could find it gives it a whole new vibe and you may wind up wanting to keep it. If not, at least you'll have tested it out. It's a reversible mod. (as far as I know, I'm horrible with electronics lol)

need more opinions... or maybe a sound clip or two of this mod already having been done..

I waited. And I waited. Then, when the time was right, I struck! Well, I posted a pic of my Spector. #250? Hells to the yeah!

But anyhoo - still working out some kinks. I've been releasing some tension on the neck - still a bit of buzz. Sounds good but still some bum-zzzzzz on some notes. Any advice on relief or action? I'm using DR Sunbeams.

I appreciate everything you guys post.

The Ian Hill sounds great as is. I'd put the HazLab in the Legend 4. :D

Did you get pics of the back?

I think the later ones all had the matte black finish on the necks.

Mine is Matte Black with a trans-black stain on the top which really makes that bass for me.

If only the pick-ups weren't so quiet & dull. My NS2-A is another story...:bassist:

Yeh, not a scratch on the back! Looks like the bass wasn't used or hardly used. Irvines Performer video made that bass sound awesome!

My Former NS-2A had a HazLab pre. Kramer era.

Spector USA Built 5 String Bass | eBay

What's the general view of Spector's USA bolt ons? I'm interested in that bass there, but I'm wanting to know how much it differs from the Rebop 5 I currently have in terms of sound, feel and most importantly, weight distribution between neck and body. If it's not a diver I might be more convinced to go for that than a Euro model.

Oh also, is that a decent price for that bass? That's nearly $3000 when converted.

I haven't tried one on a Spector, but I have one on a Kramer Forum bass I have, which is sort of Spector-ish. Setting them up right is the key. If you can get the lever set right and to be stable, you'll like it. Learning to set it right can be tricky, but once you know the tendencies of it, it becomes pretty stable. That said, I probably won't go with one on my Euro 4. It would be pretty expensive to add a gold one to that bass, for just 2-3 songs. I will have a 5er in a a few months, and will just switch between the two.

From my experience between ReBop 5 DLX & Euro 5's, the Euros are a lot better balance the way that they sit on your shoulder, the Euro 5 sound is less muddy/dirty more clear & growl, more adjustable. If you have to have a USA built buy from BassCentral.com. You'll get a lot better price than $3,000.00. Sorry I haven't played a USA 5 string, yet!
