The Euro 5 basses are going to definitely weigh more than 8.5 pounds too. I think mine probably weighs between 10 and 11 pounds but my bathroom scale isn't the greatest so that could be off a bit.

I have to stick with light basses due to back problems. Having to sell my 9.5lb Warwick as it's too heavy.

A mate of mine told me that he once owned a 5 string Spector that weighed 8.2lbs...

I quite like the White one but I'm in the uk so wouldn't be able to play it first. Plus, I'd have to factor shipping and taxes into the equation

I could be wrong here (like that'd be the 1st today) Hasn't it been just recently SPECTOR has been using maple fretboards & only BEM??? Some help here!

That sounds like a ReBop 5 weight. I had one...it was light because the body was made from Alder.

I bought a bass and was told it was in "MINT" condition.

I recieved a bass that was no where near meant. It had a ton of dings and scratches on the body as well as the neck. The neck was also bowed beyond belief. They did not wanna let me return the bass because the claimed the 30 day satisfaction guarantee was for instore only. I was forceful to say the least and they agreed to pick it back up on their dime, so I lost nothing but time and had a slight heart ache due to not getting the bass I thought I was getting.

Not neckthru, but the US bolt-ons are very light (and criminally underrated IMO). Love mine.

Ok...then why does Spectorbass historical site say this about the NS-2000/4&5???

NS-20004(TM) An updated version of the NS-94(TM) Model.

Once more the body was reshaped.

The horns became thicker than on the NS-94/95(TM) models but did not take on the fully rounded profile of the original NS-Bass(TM).

This shape would be used for our flat-body import guitars many more times.

Currently, only the SpectorCore Piezo(TM) model uses this body shape.

Welcome to my world in the USA...I'd have to drive atleast 4 hours to find a GC and hope they'd have any SPECTOR let alone one that I'd like to try. Seems most of the higher end SPECTORS are either on East or West coasts. :scowl: More population for clientele.

A ReBop 5 is a Euro.

Mine is curved. Ns2000/4 played a Q4 that was curved so I would say yes.

Is it likely that I'll ever find a used one in that shape - with 5 strings, maple board, quilt top, under 8.5lbs, for less than $1000?

Other than a bolt on or Spector core (semi hollow) your SOL on the weight thing. Almost all spectors are heavy enough to make you say "Damn! " when you pick them up. The size to weight is deceiving.

Hope I don't get flamed too bad for this but he is a Spector player. You might want to look for an ibanez Doug Wimblesh bass. It's not a Spector, but pretty much as close as you get . Their kinda rare, but very nice, and basically what you would get if ibanez built you a Spector copy. Ibanez also has some cool NT SR models ( 800 or 900 series) that are great players and easy on the back.

B.S.!!!! my former Ian Hill barely weighed in @8#!!! And any one of my SPECTORS are lighter than most Solid wood basses. With all weight issues put aside...we buy SPECTORS for the build quality and sound.
