I'm really glad that worked out. Beaver, GH, Mike and David are all really cool cats and they really do everything they can to work with people and make them happy.

Your new Alex is awesome and I know the blood graphic isn't everyone's favorite, but as the guy who designed it I really appreciate that you opted for it. Every time I see one of those bloody basses it makes me smile!

Yep. Although I'd like to run a compressor so that I don't lose too much volume when I tap. I just can't afford one ATM. Besides, I could put 200$ down on an EBS multicomp or I could put it towards a rebop 5.

Fair enough. I pretty much consider anything between the bass and the amp an effect. If I were to add a more 'effect-y' effect, it'd be a sansamp vt. I saw that demo video with the dude from your favorite enemies (killer player, btw, though I'm not big on his band) and i really like the sounds he got from it. But again, I'd rather put the money towards another Spector.

Agreed, but if Spector basses sound like an atomic bomb, through some of my pedals at the right moments, it sounds like an explosion of a thousand suns.

I don't always run effects and I think that the direct sound is like I said before, transcending. But when the song needs another dimension...it makes the perfect even better.:cool:

So I'm using a Carvin r600 head into a yamaha 2x15.. (Thinking about trading a fender bass for a Genz Benz 2x10) My Spectors performer 4DLX and NS-2A

Trust me, the NS-4 deserves some time off. I wore through the finish on the original bridge... The issue with it is that the redwood is soft. And I started noticing little dings in it. So it's not retired so much as getting rest. I love that bass and wouldn't ever NOT play it.

The Black Pearl was a great idea but because it's so unique I just don't feel right slinging it around, letting my cats play on it, subjecting it to the icebox I sleep in (I like it cold so I usually sleep with the windows open... Ventura gets cold at night). So the NS-2JA-R is a perfect bedroom bass. Besides I've been known to fall asleep holding my basses only to wake up a couple of hours later laying on it or having it slip off the bed onto the floor.

Now you see why I'm not so keen on having either of my USA basses in my bedroom.

I have made myself the promise that my new NS-2... the one I bought from Bass Central (the gloss black one marked "sold" on their site)... I'll be there in Orlando in a couple of weeks to pick it up and THAT bass is slated to be my #1... the bass I play every day. The one I keep in my room... So that'll be a good thing. And on it I'll love every nick and bump because I know that bass CAN take it. So could The Black Pearl... but it's too beautiful for me to want to treat it that way.
