ok I'm curious how many members here are in a hard rock or metal band... what model Spector(s) they use and what other gear they use to get a nice heavy Spector growl
I'm pretty much an all metal bass player. Look up Nerrus Kor if you're ever so cool.
And I use a Rebop 5 DLX, though I also have a Legend 4 Classic that's been used with previous bands.
G.A.S. It makes us do such crazy things. Your NS5P is a fine instrument. Too bad I let G.A.S. get the better of me. Oh well.
To Patrick, I was just busting on ya a bit. I fully understand how certain instruments make us want to really take care of them, while others we just play without thinking about what damage could occur. This may because of what we paid for it, what it's worth on resale or sentimental reasons.

Hey man... you youtube videos were one of the reasons I bought a Spector in the first place.... I LOVE your tone.. Keep rocking and inspiring!!!
I will be buying your bands album when it comes out.. its the least I can do 
I think part of it is the collectability of the instrument. While any of us could order a NS-2 in the "Black Pearl" scheme, right now I think it is the only bass in the world like it, which is pretty cool and makes it very collectable. While I believe basses were meant to be played, I can also understand that from a collectors viewpoint, if Spector never makes another Black Pearl, it becomes very collectable.
I don't think anyone in their right mind would ever buy one of the anniversary edition basses at 15,000 then take it to a gig at your local bar...
I'm really glad that worked out. Beaver, GH, Mike and David are all really cool cats and they really do everything they can to work with people and make them happy.
Your new Alex is awesome and I know the blood graphic isn't everyone's favorite, but as the guy who designed it I really appreciate that you opted for it. Every time I see one of those bloody basses it makes me smile!
I love the blood splatter myself. People are divided on it, but even the ones who don't like it agree that it totally fits the "character" of the bass. It also makes me much more photogenic, so I dig it.
(Also, do you think that one day you could walk us through the design of a bass from concept to production model?)

Ain't she a beauty!!! My sound guy says she is the most even and clear sounding 5 I have ever used in the few years I have been working with him! The main reason I don't use her more live is I am afraid of her getting damaged or stolen... My SR 5 is about 2 pounds lighter and I am not afraid to beat her up a little so she gets the call for live stuff almost exclusively. When I do studio work the NS5P is the first bass to go in the bag! Sweet doesn't even begin to describe her...

It's alright man. Just save up! It'll be doubly great when you finally get it because:
1) You'll have a Spector!
2) The work and patience will have fully paid off.
Just keep saving and remembering, "'X' more months, 'X' more months"

I should be finishing up with our singer tracking vocals in the next two weeks. Then tracking turntable parts and mixing and mastering. I'm hoping to finish the album (EP) within a month and have it out....hopefully
Sadly, the songs on my youtube page are going to end up on the next release, but the next release will be a full length. I've already started tracking guitar and what not for that, so i don't think that release will take as long strangely haha!

I know there are several threads here but, is the nt worth the 1000$ extra?
For 10 years I´m playing Bolt on Basses, is there a big big difference?
I started with a bolt-on legend 4...
second was bolt-on ReBop 5 DLX...
third, finally HAD to try a NT, NS-2A, WOW! Was there ever a difference! Pre-amp differences aside, the tone is a lot different, longer sustain and the feel/balance much more better feel. I got the NT bug! Since the NS-2A I bought a NS-95 SSD, Ian Hill sig. NS-2 and my awaiting Forte 4! I used to here the guys here talk up their NT's and I'd say "yah sure"...well, I just had to try one and that's all she wrote!
I'm thinking about my next SPECTOR either a Forte 5 or Coda 5 Bolt-on. But I'd definitely would have to test a Coda before buying...that bolt-on thing, I don't know. Hmmm

Tommixx owns that one now. Killer blend with the magentc and piezo pickups. Mix that piezo with distortion ad prepare to bleed ears.
No worries. It's all good. And you're right... It's not that I don't care if anything happens to the basses I choose to play everyday, it's just I know that little things will. It's the nature of the beast. Play a guitar every day and you wear things out... frets, finish, the tops of the pups... so I just go into it with the attitude that what will be will be. I'm still careful. Note I fell asleep on the Stingray once but never on any of my SPECTORs. LOL.

I actually hope a bunch of people order Black Pearls... "Black Pearl" is a color scheme that can be applied to any USA Bolt-On or Neck Thru NS. And I'm trying to talk PJ and Stuart into doing it with the Coda.
The scheme is simply black gloss stain over quilt maple with a BEM fingerboard and black MOP inlays.
The Black Pearl is collectable being first in what I hope will be many more like it...
For me because I never plan on selling it... I can promise you I won't... it's one of the most beautiful NS-2s I've ever seen. And as a prime example of the artistry that Stuart puts into every one of his basses, I want to preserve it the best I can. I have other SPECTORs I can really enjoy and play... this one... I really enjoy looking at it.
Yeah... I had the chance to get the LAST NS-230 and at a really, really good price. But I passed because I'd NEVER want to play it. I've played the Black Pearl. At least once a day I play on it for 10-15 minutes, sitting in my chair... But I'd never wail on it or gig with it, etc... and that's bad enough.
I had PJ Rubal's NS-230 here at my studio for 3 months... it got sent in the fall and the weather got bad enough that PJ didn't want me sending it because of the hot/cold rain/snow situation. We waited until a mild week and I sent it overnight to him...
In the 3 months I had that guitar... I got handled 3 different times for 3 different photo-shoots. I always used soft cotton gloves to hold it and it NEVER got plugged in or played. Not one single note.
Talk about stressful having that thing here. LOL.
