Major difference is the Euros have a Tonepump. I have both the NS-2 (a 1983 Brooklyn) and a brand new Euro 4LX. I actually like the Euro better on the sound. The Tonepump comes to you cranked to 100%. For models after 2006 (I think that is the right year, but may be mistaken) you can adjust the output of the Tonepump. Patrick who does work for Spector has a good video on Youtube about turning it down. A good number of people, including myself turn it down to just over halfway so the overdrive is not so strong. BTW, Patrick is JPS here on the forums and knows all things Spector.

The only bass I have that plays easier than a Spector in 34 inch scale is a Fodera. But it costs much more and has a different sound. I LOVE the growl of the Euro. I can't say enough good things about it. And.... I am not afraid to take it places and actually play it like I am the Fodera lol!

The Tonepump adjustor started 2008. This was in Part 15 via JPS.

Seriously though, that video pretty much sold me (get it? sold me) on it - and hopefully I'll get to play one at BPL. Still waiting to hear on what models will be there.

I feel for you with all the import duties etc, but you know, I really think it'll be worth it. It's at least something to save up/work towards.

I'm saving now for the Forte, that's also why I sold my Rebop 5 and NS-2A. So, I have a decent head start towards the cost - but, since the Forte's are hand made, the earliest availability is Feb, 2012. It took me almost a year to save up for the Rebop 5, and even then I paid in installments. But to me, it was totally worth it. Just like I'm sure the Forte will be worth it. :D

I don't know, I almost feel safer using mine in a bar than somewhere like an outdoor festival or something. Really, around here, that's about the only two options you have. Sure, it might smell like a bar, but you can clean that off. The case is nothing special...it's the same case that comes with Euros, so that be cleaned as well. Bars do allow you to keep it more in your sight, in a more constant temperature, and you don't have as much gear on stage as you would outdoors that could fall into it. Outdoors, you've got hotter or colder temps, gear everywhere, and if it's multiple bands, you have guys changing out equipment for their set, so you have much more foot traffic on stage. Then, when you get done, what are you going to do with it? Probably go in your vehicle, where it will still be hotter or cooler. And where we live, mad, there's a no smoking rule in effect, so you don't get the smoke. Monroe is not the case, but maybe that's coming. After having played some shows in both, I'd much rather have my bass in a bar than outside...just MHO though.

I've been thinking of getting a Pelican case for my NS2 in the future. I have all my camera gear in Pelican cases and I've shot in hot and cold situations. Never had any heat exhaustion or freeze. Invalid Link Removed
Might be an interesting concept for a Bass...?

I've never seen those before...that could be a good solution. It's not the heat that kills ya here, it's the humidity...those cases would be great for those that play unfinished necks, especially those with no kind of reinforcement like graphite
