I've been using tapered B strings on my Euro5LX. But I just got a set of HighBeams with a non tapered B string. I just squeezed the end with a big pair of pliers to get the 125 B string to fit. So at least you have a choice in tapered and non tapered

USA models are hand built in the good ole US of A. They are the top tier of the Spector line. Neck thru is considerably more expensive than the bolt on models unless you're looking at getting a Forte, which is a USA model that has been stripped down a little to keep cost down. Still a fantastic sounding and looking bass though.

Czech models (Euro) also come in bolt on vs. Euro and like the USA the neck thrus are the more expensive line. They also come with different hardware. The Euros are top notch basses and the necks are the same exact neck in every USA bass. Spector's motto is that the heart of the instrument (the neck) is the same. I've owned a Euro neck thru and it was one of the highest quality basses that I've owned. I've had American basses that weren't built this well!

I have a USA Forte on order so I cant comment on one yet but...from what I see others saying it is just amazing.

The higher end USA models are amazing works of art.

If you would like to get your hands on a Spector but not break the bank yet, try a Used Euro Neck-thru, usually between $800-$1200 used.

My local GC actually has two used Spectors for sale (both in the $400-$800 range) (I think one was a Rebop and the other was some sort of Euro - both have dual humbuckers, one is a bolt on) that I've been wanting to try just to get a taste of what they're like. I use to be a Warwick player (Corvette and Streamer), but have fallen out of favor with them. That said, I still retain a love for the NS/Streamer body style and would love to get a new bass that has that style and ergonomics.

How do the NS-2's and Euro 4lxs favor in these parts? Any major difference between the two besides their origin? They look to be right up my alley!

I will have a white NS-2 (Euro) one day....I love white guitars/basses.

This reminds me of a question I meant to ask a while back. I have seen pics of a couple of older used white Euro's and noticed they had discolored some, which is fine-one of the best things I like about white instruments is the cream hue they take on in about 15 years or so. One in particular looked odd. It was more yellowed on the neck block than the body wings. The other was a rebop, and the tongue of the neck where it joins the body was much more yellowed out than the body. Who knows what environment these were kept in, but have others noticed this on white Euro's in general?

That is what we ended up doing. We read a few people on here had success doing that so a few quick crimps from the needle nose pliers and the string fit right in.

When I got my Forte I was scared shitless anything would happen to it. I even bought a Euro 5 on a whim just so I could use it more than the Forte then I was like..."This is ********, it's MEANT to be used, that's it's purpose!". About a month back I got a small ding, at first I reacted "HOLY F*#&!!!!!!!!!" And then, "F it, it's a thing (albeit an expensive one) and its meant to be used".
I love using it, I love playing it all the time and believe me, I play it a LOT. Why "settle" on a sound or style??
When I get my NS2 in a few months, I am sure I'll be back to treating it with white satin gloves, but it also is going to be used and enjoyed, just be careful with it, if something happens, so it happens! I know there's a guy here in Vancouver that does amazing restorations, if need be and if I feel I want to, at some point, I can get those dings fixed!!! Almost nothing is irreversible.
