Spector Club Pt. 4 (Insert Clever Title Here)

So as the snow continues to fall in truck loads here in Philly I'll spend a little time with it. Got it for an extreemely reasonable price from the Beaver. Running thru a BBE-BMAX and a QSC 1850HD it sounds....interesting. About the same horsepower as the old DC pups Spector used to install. The last 3 frets are useless and it would be great if Spector cuts the body back someday so we can play up there unrestricted however I wont be doing solos on this one in the 21 to 24 fret area anyway. So it's off to the basement to fool around....then out to shovel some sidewalks.

I met this really sweet (and pretty) young lady from Norway. She came and hung out at my studio with me. She liked my new Spector.

The camera came out (I never put it up actually) and photos ensued. FYI, her sister is a bassist, so she did a good job "faking" like she was a player. I was impressed.

Went pawn shop hopping today and found no less than 3 Spector Legends (two 5's and a 4 w/PJ's). While this is unusual to start with, the real funny thing was that they were all the older issue with the 3 band (+/- Bass, Treble, Mid w/sweep) electronics.

I know the two band boost only thats in them now is the Tone Pump Jr.. Anybody know exactly what preamp is in the one's with the three band?

Also the PJ 4 had EMG-HZ's instead of the EMG-SSD's

A fews years back I purchased a black legend 4 string off ebay. It was brand new. Shortly after that I replaced the emg ssd's that came in it to emg 35dc's. Its not the top of the line Spector but it plays and sounds great.

I have D'Addario Chrome Flats (mediums) on my NS2A. I know... different beast all together, my NS2A having EMG active PJ's and an Aguilar Pre. But I can tell you I think the chrome's are a little warmer.

I like them much better than stainless for a flatwound string.

Just my personal take. If you want a real thumpy sound, like a double bass, get some RotoSound 88D strings. I have these on my Steinberger fretless. They are steel, tapewound in black nylon. I love the way these sound. But you have to be careful not to get friction burns on your calluses....
