Spector Club Pt. 5 (Insert Clever Title Here)

It's almost next week when the website will be up, but I'm interested if anyone has any good links to info on the Korean NS-2A and 2B basses, like this bass. I can't afford one right now but it never hurts to find out for sure before I start savin it all up...

I recently picked up a '94 USA NS-5P here on the classifieds and love it so far. Is there a Spector FAQ somewhere here? I'm curious what types of strings people like on them, what amps y'all favor, how you run your blends for different kinds of music ... you know, the normal OCD Bassist workup.

So far I really like the bass blended a little off center either way on the EMGs with just enough piezo to bring in some shine, and a little bass boost on the piezo. That's a big bold sound that I have never heard from another bass.

Nice score! I saw that one FS and love natural finishes on Spectors. My first Spector was a natural NS4CRFM and it flat out ruled!

As far as FAQ goes I think we're purty good about answering questions but you could search through a little the old threads as I have before and there's tons of good info.

On my NS2 I run pickups center and both Bass and Treble boosted just a tad. On my NS5 I favor the back pickup about 10-15% more from center and only boost the Bass as it's got an 18V Haz pre instead of the 9V on my NS2.

But that's just for playing out. When tracking I just go straight in flat on the pickups and EQ and it just crushes all else. :bassist::bassist:

Nice bass and nice photos! Both pres are sweet. The question is do you like boost only or boost cut on your pres?

Lads, I'm currently playing an old Steinberger and wish to retire it.

I need some Spector advice please!


US Spectors are rare and too expensive over here in ireland to be using all the time as a workhorse bass.


I don't like P/J setups and prefer humbuckers, and I prefer active basses.

Would this be a good first "toe in the water" or are these basses much poorer quality than the US or Euro ones?

That would be an excellent "toe in the water" Spector. The Legends are all of pretty good quality - not the same as the Euros or US-made but they don't have that price tag either. Good luck on the bass!
