there's an issue of bass player with juan nelson on the cover with a trans black mtd 535...if you check that out and read the interview, juan says that the 535 was a gift from ben harper...nuts...

Haha yeah I know that article! He bought it from Guitard Center of all places- :bawl: I wish my local GC's stocked stuff like high-end Spectors and MTD's! :D

From my short 7 month experience with Spectors so far I can can say with confidence that my 1st Spector purchase, a beautiful 2nd hand Spector Legend 4 Classic, I was wowed by it's neck action and tone especially after replacing the strings with GHS SS FW, it's a lot better bass than my precious Fender Jazz 4 Squire. My 2nd Spector purchase being a Spector Rebop Euro 5, 2nd hand, is even better,much better! I'd have to also say for the same price range for second hand I'd definitely go with the Rebop vs Legend. I paid $599.00 for my Rebop Euro 5, in excellent condition from a east coast guitar store off eBay. My Legend 4 Classic is an awesome performer, better pups would make it that much better though. Which I can see in the near future.

I have more to post, but they're on my laptop at home.

I love the sound of this bass and I want more Spectors. In all honesty, I bought this without playing a Spector before or seeing this one in person.

I think next will be a Euro 5 unless I find something on ebay I can't pass up. :smug:

I'm thinking I want to give it a little more growl. I may just replace the pickups. I was going to put an Aguilar in it and drop in some Nordstrands, but I'm not sure anymore. I'm pretty happy with how it sounds right now. I'm not in a band anyway. I may just lose the passives, though.

If you're interested in hearing one I used my NS5-H2 on a few of our brand-new tracks - it's rather prominent on the first one on our MySpace, "The Hand That Feeds". The bass, treble, and mids were all slightly boosted and both pups were humbucking. MySpace definitely took a bit of "shine" off the recordings, but you'll get the idea.

For comparison, all other MySpace tracks were recorded in the same manner using my Warwick Thumb NT.

To me, it is the "standard" Spector. The versatility is much appreciated when I leave practice for my rock band and then drive directly to Jazz improvisation class.

In fact, yesterday the guitarist for the rock band picked it up and played literally three notes then gave me a real sarcastic look and said "Now I know why you're so good." Then we all joked about giving it to someone who sucked to test the theory out. :D

For those of that have a Euro 5 with either the zinc brass alloy or aluminum bridge, I was wondering if one of you might be able to take some measurements for me. I know from the website the dimensional specs are 4.40" W, 1.95" L, .78" H. However, what I am looking for is distance between the bridge mounting holes from center to center. If you have a precision rule or a caliper to take the measurements, that would be great, but I will take what I can get. Thanks. :)
