I have the Spector cases.
Yes, there are different sizes. The one for my 4 string is smaller than the one for my 6 (35" scale, slightly bigger body) and neither bass fits as well in the other (although, in a pinch, they're OK). So consider this and be bass specific when buying as most dealers don't point this option out (or don't realize it themselves).
I've occasionally seen them listed in three sizes (4, 5 and 6 string). The local Sam Ash only seems to stock 2 sizes and I have trouble believing the 5 and 6 basses need different sized cases.
I would say they are no worse off than anybody else's Fender style tolex cases.
In fact, my 4 string case was on tour with Evan Seinfeld before I got it. A little banged up and a missing middle latch, but still doing it's job just fine.
