Captain Arrrg- I wish I could agree, but that was some sort of photographic anomaly. The headstock is black as can be seen here:

Still my favorite bass though!!

Lovin' it! Really dig the neck on it too. Havent tried it out live yet though. That brass nut really makes it ring! It doesnt seem to have the low end of my NS2A, but its nice to have a lil different tone...the ReBop has some nice booty too.

Yeah, the P-Bass pickup on the NS2A gives it a bit more low end.
I am still in love with my NS-2JA-R after a month with it now, I think the honeymoon phase is even over. ;)

Capt. Arrrg,

Yep, you are correct.

This one is set up V-V-Bass-Treble which doesn't sound that versatile. The Tone Pump preamp takes some knocks here on TalkBass but it certainly is hot on the output and the coil switch on the EMG 40CSTW bridge pickup gives it a very pronounced mid-bump growl that cuts through very well. The single J in the neck position can also deal out a very traditional thump when required.

Great tone notwithstanding, the other aspects that I enjoy are the light weight and that curved back which fits a lot of us in the "over 40" crowd nicely!

I love that poplar burl top. I'd really like to get my mitts on a USA Neck through NS4. Problem is that the Euro would give me that tone and a ton of cash left in hand. The only appeal of the USA Spectors is the collectability and a slight bump up in quality. I've owned some great basses but Spector is my tone!

Lucky. :bassist:

BTW- Does the NKU stand for Northern Kentucky University? I had some friends that went there when I lived in the Cincy area.

It seems like everyone's getting new Spectors....

Lucky for now...I don't know how long I can afford to keep all this nice stuff around. Doing that "life" thing coming up here soon...ring, house, car, etc.

And yeah it does - I went there 2002-2005.
