Squier Classic Vibe 2019

All the Indian Laurel boards from Fender I've seen in person have looked like absolute garbage. Literally anything would be better.

I’m pretty sure that my 2018 Squier p/j neck is Indian Laurel, so I strongly disagree that they all look like garbage! No fretboard oil has been applied to the neck, so what you see is the natural fretboard color.

Who are you kidding? This is not a PJ, and not a 2018 model :D
I was accurate in stating a PJ neck! I never said a Squier PJ bass! :D:laugh::D
I bought my Squier over the holidays, and a couple days later, the original neck’s truss rod became stripped. I quickly found my replacement neck on Reverb and have been jamming every since. :)

My 2018 Squier p/j neck and 1997 Squier Affinity p-bass body are a fantastic pairing! :hyper::bassist::hyper:

P.S. - FWIW, the original 1997 Squier Affinity neck and 2018 Squier p/j necks dimensions are remarkably similar (more jazz bass like than chunky p-bass).

Ah sorry! I might have been tired when I read the original message. Please forgive me!

Yeah that particular neck doesn't look ugly but a lot of look dry and super porous to my sight, compared to the good ol' rosewood

Yeah, the laurel fingerboards I've seen in person have a grey colour to them that I don't like much. They were Affinity Jazzes though, so I don't know I they'll use the same wood for the new CVs. Like most species of woods, I reckon "laurel" covers a few variations.

Kinda tardy to the party on this thread, and I've been out of the loop for a little while, but I'm just now stumbling across this whole new lineup on Sweewater. My jaw just almost hit the keyboard when I saw all the new models on their Squier page. I've been itching for a 60s era 3-tone 'burst with the tort guard for EVER and a day but haven't been able to come up with the bread for an actual Fender. Hey, this bass looks amazing and the reputation that Squier has gained in the past 10-15 years says these are likely to be winners. The only thing I wish they'd include in this new lineup is a 50s style single coil like they had in their previous lineup. Wouldn't mind getting my paws on a 50s P bass and a 60s model as well.

Why not? I will not buy from them, I wanna buy local because I wanna see the bass before buying it, to see any defect and avoid any returns. I'm going for the 4 string Classic Vibe 70s Jazz Bass in natural

Sorry, stocked/stoked joke that clearly missed the mark. And wasn't very funny.

Good plan to try one, I'm hoping they're better than the current VMs. Not that they're bad or anything, it would just seem fitting to follow the CV line up properly.

Didn't catch the joke because I'm not natively English! Don't worry, though :) no offense taken, I edited my answer!

Let's be honest, for the prices given and the expected quality, I'm not hopping for too much. But as that particular model (70s JB) will by made with maple on the body and neck, and all lacquered, I'm not too worried. The tunning keys? Well, even on my Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass they are unperfect. That's something that is manageable. Same goes for the bridge. As long as the wood is solid enough to last at least 20 years, I'm an happy guy :)

If anyone has a hankering for the first gen CV basses, GC has a 60s Jazz and a 50s P. I made a couple of GAS-induced phone calls; the 60s J weighs 8 lbs, the P 7.4.
EDIT: They're gone now.
