Some good points here, an accurate assessment IMO.… looks to me like Fender is trying to create a more distinct gap between the 'Classic Vibe' name/series, and the new Players Series … both in price points and components/quality … it was way too close before, and too many folk were opting for the bass with the lesser profit margin at the discontinued pricing …
… it will be interesting to see how these come in as far as weight ranges, the '90s MIM Standards with poplar bodies were all over the board … also keeping color options to a minimum on the new CV's and then offering a rainbow array on the Players Series should help that too …
if those fretboards were ebony or something nicer than what looks like dry dirt I'd be interested but maybe they'll have plenty of maple and ? to choose from. hoping there's a PJ or '68 Tele in the mix.
Not sure about Indian Laurel fretboards, but I would have to see them in real life.
Could it be 2014 Squier VM fretless P body + 2014 VM PJ neck + new narrow tall fret + Poly Yellowish vintage tint neck = 2019 Squier CV 60P ????
Only FMIC know what they did themselve.
Sunburst P body and a Jazz neck, please! I wonder when STRAToshere will get parts....
Have we heard if the VMs are coming back or not?
Yeah, it's tuned E to E like a guitar. Personally I've never understood the attraction to these guitars for us bass players. Is the VI 'really ' a bass due to its E to E tuning?Don't really think this Invalid Link Removed can be played as a bass guitar.
Sell current gear first= justify getting new gear later?Remembering my new year's resolution, no-new-gear-year!
But just look at that P bass!

I don't know why the don't use walnut! Much better wood imoUgh...those finger boards. I’d almost prefer phenolic at this point. The Indian laurel just looks sickly. I’m all for saving rosewood from extinction, but Fender can do better at this price point. Sorry for hearing with my eyes!
Lacquer necks on these make them no better than an SX. Talk about a cost cutting option. Heavy lacquer on everything. Blech.
It sucks that there isn't a Chinese CV any more, but it's also a bit cheaper.
I think the CV 50s Precision is still MIC. At least the photo on the website indicates that.
