Squier Classic Vibe 2019

Can't wait to get a 60s P in Olympic White. Don't mind the laurel fingerboard, I'm cool with sustainable wood. Prefer the idea of it to be frank. It'll look sexy when I've oiled it.

I'm just hoping they maintain the CV quality. It won't be bad, seeing as it's likely to be the Indonesian VM factory, but it would be nice if they step it up a little to match the current MIC CVs.

The nut width, frets, and pickups on the Bass VI seem to be the only appreciable differences between the final VM models (which unfortunately also used IL for the fretboard) and the new CV versions. Cheaper tuners seem to be a general concern that keeps popping up in this thread also.

Yeah, I don't get it - even the VM basses, with perhaps the exception of the SS VM Jag Bass have superior tuning machines to these new CVs.

With that said - here's the least expensive upgrade option those great Classic Vibe tuning machines (even cheaper than the Wilkinsons, although those would be great too) - these machines, incidentally, are reversible, so they're good for both the right handed and lefty basses (I use these to replace the notched cheapos in kit basses and on my recently acquired Harley Benton PB-50):

CV 70's jazz is number 1 on my GAS list at the moment! Reading the specs on the website, looking at the price, and DROOLING.... it's a steal!

Fender designed pups, bone nut, vintage bridge, narrow tall frets, vintage gloss bound neck with block inlays... available in 3 beautiful colors (i can't decide!) all for just roughly 500 AUD?! drooldrooldrool

Just waiting for them to come to Australia!!!!

By the way, will the Fender hi mass bridge fit on this bass? Also, is it worth installing a pair of fender vintage noiseless pups in it? (according to Fender they are used in their 60s and 70s reissue basses)

I hate to say it, but they’ll be at least AU$700 by the time they get to the Southern Hemisphere...

That model is more expensive cause it's an old one, made in china. Can't compare

Yes Hi mass will fit.

Does the CV 70's jazz bass have 70's bridge pickup placement?

Also just wondering, were the '16, '17 '18 year Squier affinity's built in China or indonesia?

Yes, TRUE 70s pickup placement. All made in China. '19 are Indonesian.

70s pup positioning on the CV 70's jazz???? Then I'm 100% sold. And I'm already 80% sold.

Yes !!

are the squier CV jazz bass pickgaurds same shape and holes as regular jazz bass?

I see no reason why they souldn't be. The CV 60s ones were perfect

I wouldn’t expect the new ones to be any cheaper than the old, regardless of where they are made. They’re the same market positioning (relative to affinity, VM, etc) and very few people outside of TB will consider MIC to be of greater status than MII. Also I am familiar with how musical instruments tend to be priced in the Australian market vs US so that price seems pretty normal to me.

I am optimistic about the quality of the new ones anyway, both because I have a brilliant MII Squier (VM Amber Precision) and because Cortek have a pretty solid reputation of building to exact price points wherever they set up shop.

There’s a lot of debate here on quality of MIC vs MII with the 2019 CVs. I have a nice collection of both MIC and MII Squier basses. I currently have 12 MIC Squier basses mostly CV and a couple signature models, and 9 MII Squier basses signature and VM. IMHO the MII models are as good as or so close to the MIC models, as far as fit and finish, hardware etc... that the difference is a mute point. Here is a list of my current bass inventory.

Guess we will see soon. When the new models hit the streets. I plan on picking up a few to verify quality and filling holes in the collection.
