It depends, with a rosewood fingerboard, tort is OK. With maple, it pretty much has to be black for me.
i played a bass vi fender in the 60s at a music store several times. it was a guitar but not for true r n' r highs & the bass tones were like my 62 jag guitar dampened on the bridge by heal of my hand. by the way my first bass fender jazz bass purchased new in 62-3. it was a metallic deep blue w/matching headstock.Yeah, it's tuned E to E like a guitar. Personally I've never understood the attraction to these guitars for us bass players. Is the VI 'really ' a bass due to its E to E tuning?![]()
Looks fabulous to say the least!CV 50's.....scored recently--- LOVE IT !

Looks fabulous to say the least! How does the sound compare to a "more recent" sort of P bass (60's, 70's, etc.) ?
They arrive in the UK early next month apparently.
How did you know?
I pre-ordered the Daphne Blue Jazz and the seller emailed to tell me that's when they'll get stock.

Ah cool, where from? I'm after the Jazz V, prices seem quite varied at the mo, anything from 340 to 400, not sure if these are preorder prices.
I've seen a 2019 60s Classic Vibe Precision bass in white in new condition for 350$ CAD lately, which seems quite inexpensive !
It does not say..... and checking online, the store has quite a few negative yelp review. Hum ..To buy directly or to preorder?? Bonjour![]()
Are preorder prices often cheaper or more expensive than the normal in-stock price?
Is this usually the case, that preorders are cheaper than the normal in-stock price or not really?
I wouldn't bet on it! Only if there's some sort of special promotion to try and boost initial sales. IME cheaper prices tend to be on instruments that have hung around for a while and that the shop is trying to get rid of, not the brand new shiny ones...Is this usually the case, that preorders are cheaper than the normal in-stock price or not really?
