Squier Classic Vibe 2019

About dent or scratch on soft body wood worring, my Cort Arona IV sexy Sand blaster kind of Swamp Ash body are number one. But no single dent and scratch after 8 months use before i sold it. This body much more resonance than my ibby SRFF805 and Cort B5 Ash.
Weight around 8.3lbs but has neck dive even has small headstock. Why ? Because the heavy 3pcs canadian maple fat thick neck.....

So, yours is Indonesian made?

I have a number of USA Peavey basses that have poplar bodies and they are great.
My 1985 Guild Pilot has a poplar body and that bass is awesome.
My 2003 EBMM SUB Bass has a poplar body and also a great bass.
I have no problem with good poplar at all.
My Squier VM Precision (72 Tele) Bass, the body is basswood with veneer front and back...
gotta be real careful with screws or you will strip them out
Are you asking me? If so then yes, both of my Squiers are made in Indonesia by Cort. One’s a ‘13 VM Jazz and the other a ‘19 CV Precision.

Totally agree irt poplar and basswood. The CV P and my EBMM Stingray (also an ‘03 btw) are poplar and trouble free. My old Ibanez SR300 was basswood and toothpick fixes were everywhere after a couple of years. Not all basswood is reputed to be as sucky however. Agathis however, is just of the total suck.

I recall that the old SR300 with CAP pup and earlier SR300 use Agathis too. Nothing wrong with my previous Squier VM77J too.......

Well maybe my memory is off and it was agathis instead of basswood but I didn’t think so. It was an ‘05 iirc with reverse P and J pups and a preamp. Playing that thing brought out the love of bass into me which was weird as I really didn’t like that bass very much at all with the uber-skinny neck, meh tone, and fastener holes that stripped in record times.

Please read this.

SR300 (2007–2014)

The firth SR300 born on 2007. Using Agathis body.
Are you sure your ibby SR is SR300 ?

Could it have been an SGR? It was a Soundgear regardless. Idk but it was either an ‘04 or ‘05 because I first started playing bass on a really cheap P bass knockoff in late 2004 and picked up the Ibby a couple of months later as an upgrade. IIRC they redid the model some in ‘07.

It had the B100 bridge, EQB IIC, reverse P/J pups, a very thin neck, and a 2+2 headstock. I’m thinking now that it probably had a basswood body, not agathis, but I could be wrong lol.

Just came across this today and thought I would share it for everyone's benefit. It makes it easy to compare the old and new CV models. Squier Wiki | Classic Vibe Series Basses

The first 50P has wrong information on body wood. There are basswood on first run placid blue china 50P , later Pine on both butter Scotch and white blonde 50P.

I also recall that the steel saddle on first blue version meanwhile brass saddle on both butter and blonde version.

Another big different but less notable by everyone are the all earlier CV bass has chrome hardware, even my fiesta red 60P still has chrome one. But, FMIC start using yellowish nickel-chrome on later version.

How about the china made Paranormal 54J ? better QC than indo CV J (from Cort factory).

Is the Paranormal from the Yako factory in China (Taiwan)? The CY serial number I've seen i pics seem to indicate this? Personally I have very good experiences with older CY-series Squiers from this factory and would rate them above the current CVs from Cort/Samick. I'm not that much into J-basses but if they had made a cool Paranormal Yako P-bass I would have been all over it!!!

I have same wish too.
I found the overall QC on samick CV bass better than Cort factory, the most notable are fret job and tuning machine assembly.
Few Cort CV bass I try has found little crooked tuning head assembly which not well align.

These new CV are definitively a joke by Fender anyway. I don't recommand buying anything new from Fender. Just the Indian Laurel is a joke when Sterling by MM is offering beautiful Jatoba. These CV are supposed to be top of the line. Marcus Miller basses are a nice option, but I KNOW this is a SQUIER CLASSIC VIBE thread.

I wouldn't go quite that far but I totally understand what you mean. Anything Fender is a bit overpriced, even Squier CVs and it didn't exactly help that the earlier genaration Chinese CVs were so amazing. The new CVs felt underwhelming from day1. Not terrible, just slightly overpriced and slightly underwhelming compared to the previous generation of CVs.
