Well, it has newer strings than my Alder Stingray, but it seems to resonate just slightly less and it sounds more bright. Then again, the Maple vs Rosewood fretboard might be influencing as well as the brass saddles on the bridge

No, the Squier CV Jazz Bass doesn't have hum canceling pups...Their dual single coil.
Yes, the basses do come with shielding paint...but it's your typical economy shield paint. Although let me tell you I've tried the Jazz bass, and it's very quiet. As quiet as my P bass.
I get a little Hum when blending the front and rear pickups. Is this normal? Or do I need to sheild better?

Et voila, here it is, covers screwed on! No extra hum whatsoever. Looks and plays great!

Seriously, buying this Squier CV P-50's has been the best inversion I've done in a looooong time!!
By the way, to those of you who have swapped the pick-up and installed the Quarter Pounder: How much do you feel the sound improve? More bass? Wider frequency range? I had bought the 1/4er in advance of the bass, but I just love the way it sounds. All I do is add a bit of bass from a Boss EQ pedal

I will get a 60's P - are there any differences between the Fiesta Red and the Sonic Blue? Besides colour of course.
I ask because a local shop has one of each, and the SB costs considerably more.

I put a 1/4 lb.r in mine and got a little more punch and a bit fatter sound, which I didn't think was much of an improvement over the stock pup. Some warm/mellow flat wounds were the best thing I put on it and a better upgrade IMO.
I really liked the bass, but unless I was facing directly away from the amp, I got a metric ton of noise from the pup. I put copper shielding tape over the factory shielding paint, but the pup sits so high above the body, that shielding is almost pointless.

None whatsoever. The only real differfence (at least here in the USA) is that Squier no longer sells the Sonic Blue model.
