Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 2)

Hey! I'm the proud owner of a blue CV 50's P, with a matt black pickguard.

I'm wondering if anyone is able to tell me if there is a bridge that is a direct replacement (no drilling) with 18-19mm string spacing?

Although I'm not really happy with the playing, I think that the sonic qualitiy of both Squiers (defretted BEAD CV50 on the left channel, beginning with the melody) comes through quite well. Recorded through a Tascam US-100 USB Audio Interface, so no amp or preamp involved.

Did you play with a pick or the tone full on? I like the way they both sound kinda snappy :cool:

Fingerstyle, all controls fully open. The Precision is played at the neck, in order to get as close as possible to an upright sound, and the Jag is played between the pups, but closer to the P pup, because I tend to rest my thumb on it while playing the E string.

Oddball, the neck pocket tightness isn't a big deal. Lots of old Fenders had very loose neck pockets but that didn't affect their playability. As long as the screws are tight, that neck isn't going anywhere.

Actually read a piece about a Dutch luthier mentioning 'slightly loose pockets' are part of the vintage Fender sound... ;-)

Grabbed my '60s Precision today ;) got home, removed all the plastic protection, removed the tug bar and put some 1/2 year old flats on it (think they're GHS flats.. Purple cloth winding on the ends?) that used to be on the OLP Stingray copy.

Fell in love with a '60s CV P a while ago, that one was gone. New one there didn't really have that perfect neck so I asked them to get another. Loved it instantly!
Awesome bass, instant old school feel!

I'll get a pic up soon ;)

Little pic, but ofc we all know what it looks like ;)
Sound engineer was happy with it.. though preferred my Jazz for this particular band ( Mdungu afrobeat/african jazz ). I ended up using the P bass for the jam part of the night though ;)
(Through MXR DI+ and the Markbass LMK Tube with 1x12 NY cab. I usually take two of those cabinets but I couldnt really be bothered tonight, the 1x12 with monitors and the MXR DI works fine to be honest.)

You're getting a nice fat tone outta that P Andrew.

My sonic blue P (above) was a big hit at band practice last night. I've never liked the color at all so my plan all along was to swap out the body for something in a natural wood grain or possibly even just strip this one down. But as I walked into the rehearsal room last night every single person had to comment on how awesome the blue color was. Arghh. Now what do I do? Should I still be giving in to peer pressure at 42 years old? Well at least it's not pink....

It'll grow on you. I didn't like the idea of there only being a LPB 50's Precision (the blonde hit the market shortly after I bought mine), but since I saw it "in person", and especially with the aged pearl PG I had put on, I sometimes prefer it above my two Fender Jazzes in sunburst (and not only for the looks, by the way).

I've heard people say that the standard P bass one won't fit. The one that came on the Sonic Blue P was a little bit bigger than the regular ones. I've got mine around here somewhere. First thing I took off when I got the bass. :)
