OK BassAgent, how did you fake the pic of the neck route? You ought to be ashamed of yourself for falsifying it. According to the experts around here, and I defer to them, Squiers' are POS instruments with shoddy construction. For you to disseminate such rubbish and publicly lie that Sqiers' are anything but great heaps o' crap is unconscionable. :D

P.S Keep that pic handy and throw it up whenever the experts' pontificate. :ninja: I have downloaded that pic and will have it ready to show, with your permission.

It's genuine, I swear. Please, use the pic as a weapon ;) I'm sure the "experts" are gonna argue that on the other side of the neck, the pocket probably has an inch of space. And they're lying. I'll make a video of it ;) Just wait for a few minutes.

EDIT: Here it is. ;)

Oh, and I am not commercially involved with Squier in any way :D

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on...whether it causes hum? Was considering getting a CV 50's and putting the ashtrays on for true mojo, if they don't fit properly might scupper me plans (short of a bridge change, which i'm reluctant to do) :hmm:

Hahaha, my bass tech is one of those!! He really tried to convince me not to get a Squier but I couldn't ignore my ears! Also I asked a fellow bassist and he couldn't believe how well constructed those CV's are :bassist:

Great Cliff, I suppose you have a shite standard bent plate bridge on that POS too!:cool:

This thing about the CV cover touching the "HM" bridge and increasing hum. Couldn't you put some electrical tape inside the cover where it touches and fix that: no contact, no conductivity. Unless it is caused by induction??? Hmm...:hmm:

This is a very interesting solution! :eyebrow:

I did that on the above bass ( mounted the cover wrong) and the tape seemed to help.

Mine does have a BAII bridge, although no Hipshot tuners, so it still qualifies as a POS. I'm getting ready to re-wire the electronics so hopefully I can elevate it sonically speaking to a bona-fide POD (pile of dung). :-D

Which gets me thinking... we probably should have "levels" to qualify our CVs....

I propose:
* POS - stock
* POD - slightly modded
* HOE (Heap of Excrement) - hot rodded...

I haven't peeked into the control cavity of my CV jazz yet, but I had a CV strat which had some of cleanest wiring and nicest components of any guitar I've come across. I doubt that I'll need to change anything under the hood on the jazz.

I have yet to find any flaws with my jazz. Pretty amazing bass. Maybe I'm the only one, but I really like the stock pickups a whole lot too.
