Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 2)

Hey guys! I didn't know there was a part 2 of the CV club!
I got a Matt Freeman Sig in Black, and I know it's not sold under the CV series, but it's basically a CV with a Maple Neck!

So here it is! It plays sooooooo nice! I can't put it down! :hyper:

That is one nice bass right there! It resembles the Roger Waters' signature to me :bassist:

Woohoo! I traded my 1989 Yamaha BB300 for this, couldn't be happier! The previous owner got some covers for it as well, but he didn't have the proper screws so I'll have to obtain some somewhere. By the way,I went to a luthier nearby who serviced my acoustic guitar, and showed him this bass. He said: "Did Squier make a mistake or something? This neck is quartersawn maple! Awesome!" Sorry for the iPhone pics but I'm on the train ATM.

Congtats, yup the necks are qs and mine is full of stripes. Beautiful. Just remember that in no way does it's quality approach that of a MIM. It's only a Squier, an entry level pos.;) lol.

Can't see the neck grain on yours from the pics, but the body sure looks nice.

You can get those screws at Musician's Friend. Free shipping, too, IIRC.
Congrats on the nice bass, BTW.

I tend to disagree on the whole MIM thing. I have a MIM Jazz and it's a totally different instrument, in feel, looks and sound. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, IMO the quality is pretty equal. The bridges on the CV are múch better than the MIM's, but the tuners on MIM Fenders are steadier.

I also wouldn't label the CV as "starter" quality. It's not a Standard or Affinity you know :)

Does the bridge cover fit properly? I've heard some of the CV 60's P-bass' bridge covers touch the bridge itself and that creates a whole lotta hum :eyebrow:

It does touch the bridge yeah... I haven't screwed on the covers yet (I don't have screws yet) so I don't know how that will turn out in hum...

Welcome all! :)

Oddball, the neck pocket tightness isn't a big deal. Lots of old Fenders had very loose neck pockets but that didn't affect their playability. As long as the screws are tight, that neck isn't going anywhere.

Oh, no no no, I have one waiting for me in Laredo's (Texas) Guitar Center but I can only hear it when I play them at the stores. Also, there aren't enough samples out there :hmm:
I'll try to record some lines before I put the Quarter Pounder in it just for a reference to anyone wanting to change the PU's :bassist:
