This is a very nice instrument in tone, playability and appearance. I'd been reading great reports on the Squier CV line and I'm pleased to find that what's been said is very accurate.

I began playing bass on a friends 63 PBass and the first pro bass I ever owned was a 66Jazz Bass which I tend to prefer over a PBass for most things. I looked around a bit and picked this bass up used (but not very) without a mark on it for $250 including a gig bag. That's less than I paid for that 66 and the quality is very comparable. Who says you can't turn back the hands of time.

I don't play as much as I used to. The fact is I'm just coming back from a five year a sabbatical from playing bass so I really don't need a spare or a backup. But.....these basses are so good for the price that I don't think I'll be able to avoid picking a PBass as well although I'll have to think long and hard about Fiesta Red. Candy Apple yes but the Fiesta isn't my favorite or maybe the Matt Freeman model.

I'll probably begin looking for used one sometime early next year. So count me in as a guy who appreciates a great bass more than whose name is on the headstock.

I guess that's good enough for now. Something that at least reduce the humming.

Indeed. I've tried that myself and on this bass, it sounds pretty good.

Hope you will enjoy your new 50's P when you get one. Good thing is that it is very affordable.

Nice, I can't leave mine alone. I have to look over at my VMJ and tell myself to pick it up; and it's wonderful. But the Blonde P with LaBella flats is so seductive, hum and all. Truthfully, through my v4-b, the hum isn't that bad. My living room practice amp makes it noisy tho'.

Sadly, my CV 50's P was stolen from my house Nov. 18th, along with my VM Fretless Jazz and both my amps:crying:
The P Bass had a Basslines 1/4 pounder and brand new GHS Precision Flats too! My Jazz had new TI Flats on it for less than a week:crying:

I went to GC to give them info on the equipment in case someone tried to sell or trade it to them and couldn't leave there without something to play. Bought myself a VM Jaguar and an Acoustic B20. Pretty nice set up for around the house. :) I tried a VM Jaguar back when GC first got them in and didn't like it, the neck was too thick and the frets seem huge, but this one's much nicer and got a good growl to it. I'm really liking this bass. :bassist:

Sorry to hear about that lowsideonacurve, never a good thing to have a bass stolen but having the amp's go as well, i feel for you. At least you had an excuse to buy new gear (not that we normally need an excuse).

Does anyone know where i can get a replacement control plate (just the plate) for a CV Jazz? Im in the UK but happy to get one from the USA etc.
Mine has become a bit tarnished recently and as ive started to use it again i want to get a new, clean one.
I'd rather not have to drill any new holes so im after a direct replacement.

Just got this Matt Freeman Precision on Monday (I know. It isn't techinically a Classic Vibe but close enough). Couldn't resist the deal I got through Musician's Friend. I could not find one thing wrong with it. Right out of the box it was setup to my liking. The fit and finish is flawless. I threw on a worn in set of TI-flats and now it is incredible. I have been using it in rehearsals all week. Sounds great, looks great!!!!!! I still cannot believe how well these are made for such little $$$.

Went to Laredo's Guitar Center to pick up a Butterscotch Blonde I had ordered from the store itself on Tuesday... and it was really beaten up :crying: Dents, scratches and a huge hit on the arm rest that cut all the way to the wood!! No matter how beautiful the grain and colour was (To be honest I didn't think I'd like BSB :ninja:) I just couldn't bear paying the full price for a bass that was THIS bad.
I considered changing it for one of the Lake Placid Blue they had on display and they were also damaged (They actually were being sold at $300 because of their condition). I ended up asking to get one ordered directly from the Kansas distribution center and it should be arriving by next Friday or maybe Monday 19th... I'll just have to endure the 4 hour ride there and back again... :atoz:

What the heck are they doing there? Only 50 bucks off for that condition? Sounds more like a 50% off deal to me. I'm sorry to hear about that waste of time for you. I'm more sorry to hear you have to go back to Laredo, yuck. I hope the new one looks good for you.
