I just got mine last week in butterscotch blonde for a little under 200$ brand new at Steve's in Montreal. Got to try it for real last night at my jam room and it sounds awesome.

Personally, I would get the Butterscotch.
I do believe pine is what was used in the original Fender '51 P-bass, was it not? I know it was what was used in the very first Broadcaster/Esquire/Tele guitar.
You really have to see both in person to decide. LPB has untinted neck and you like it or not. Butter made me salivate, personal pref.

It still has a large gap down the side of the heel but i pln on putting some balsa wood in the gap.
I have noticed the gap isnt straight, it tapers out towards the edge. It was like this before but due to the Squier neck being a better fit it wasnt really noticeable.
Im not going to fret (no pun intended) about the gap, it plays well and the intonation is spot on.

That looks really nice with the maple. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I definitely do. I wouldn't worry too much about the neck fit. Lots of older Fenders had that going on and as long as it's stable I wouldn't be too concerned.
I actually really like the "sterile", pale look of the untinted; it's the pickguard that doesn't seem to make it look as good as it should

I'm 6'3" and a bass DEFINITELY doesn't look like that in my hands...

The LPB looks killer with a white pearloid 'guard. Like Lambic did. A few pages back.
Nice, I hate to point out though that the bridge cover is a p bass cover.
