Where did you order those covers from? Since I plan on playing mine (When I get it) with a pick I wanna get just the bridge cover.UPS just dropped my bass off and I'm lovin' it....as far as looks go. Went to grab my camera and the battery was dead, so got it on charge. I did snap a few not so great pics with my phone though...
The chrome bridge cover fits over the stock bridge, but I still think I'm gonna have it changed it out with a vintage style bridge...just for the vintage look if I remove the covers.
I also have a tort pickguard on the way, can't wait to see what its gonna look like on here....although the black looks good.
But yea, I love everything about it so far. Gonna play around with more this evening.

Also, has anyone tried a LPB one vs this Blonde? If so, what difference do you find in feel, weight, resonance tone (if at all), etc? I'm trying t get my mind made up between those two. All I know is I'm going 50's all the way!

PS: Where did you get that neck? Do the "extra" 2 frets give any intonation issues? I'm a sucker for that higher register
I decided to put different knobs (they are the Fender Tele and P Bass Chrome Knobs) on the CV '60s Precision Bass I got back in April of this year, but other than that its still completely stock besides the strings which are now Rotosound RS 66LDs that I originally put on my Fender Jazz Bass and yes I did remove the red silk or whatever it is called at the top.
That baby is all pimped out!! How's the maple fretboard for a fretless? I had heard it'd lack a certain "whoom"So, my Blue Baby has got its straplocks, and, above all, its chrome covers!

They are a bit of a trend right now, granted, but it is the vintage sound. If you are playing a Precision, you (generally) pretty much intended to have a certain sound. That sound comes from LaBella flats.

The sound is very special, also due to the BEAD tuning: I mostly play halfway upthe fretboard on this one. Very double-basslike. The fretboard has a tiny bit of resistance, noticeable when pushing a string towards another string. It is epoxy-coated, but due to the impossibility of matching-joining the fretboard epoxy gloss to the original thick glossy layer of the neck, the luthier had to sand it all down to satin. Very nice feeling by the way. The resistance could, according to the luthier, come from the strings (D'Addario ECB81-5, lowest four strings), which don't feel as smooth as flats could, especially the side that touches the fretboard. I have to agree that flats are superb on this bass. Just swapped some in and the vintage thumpy tone is sublime. Just used Fender 9050ML, inexpensive but nice; once I got the ugly green silk off, what are they thinking??. I'll try something else like LaBella's or chromes once my wallet fills up after buying this bass.

Especially through your V-4 and a few 15s!!! I liked the Fenders but they were way too high tension. DRs are just the ticket.
I also liked Sadowskys but they were brighter than the DRs and not quite as full sounding.
I just put the DRs on my 60's Classic Vibe P with a new Tusq nut.

I tried very hard to give the strings that came with my 60s CV P (FR/Tort) a chance. Something was wrong. My band had a couple weeks off and during that time I changed the strings out for EB Hybrid Slinky Roundwound (my usual strings).
Oh my word! It changed the bass completely, and in a good way.
Possibly my favourite bass sound ever.
The stock p'up, to my ears sounds very close to the SD SPB2. Eerily close.
No need to change the p'up at all.

Im still really loving my CVP with Jazz neck, its totally cured my lust for anything else......almost.
Saying that Ive just brought a maple/maple Lakland JO4 neck of another member with the intention of putting it on my CVP so i can put the jazz neck back on the CV Jazz.
I dont suppose anyone knows if it might be a straight swap or will need drilling etc? If it dose need work its not a problem although it might have to wait a bit.
Ill post pics once i get it. The Lakland logo has been removed due apparently to a previous owner wanting a custom logo on the headstock but going by the pics ive seen its a genuine neck, and i love Lakland jazz necks.

I remember reading somewhere else on here that Lakland and Squier/Fender had different neck pockets/neck heel dimensions. So I wouldn't be surprised if it had to be redrilled at the very least.
This bass is now my favorite! I switched out the swirly tortoise pickguard for a mint green one, eliminating the tug bar in the process. The black pickup shells were swapped for a creme set and some flatwound strings sealed the deal. Classic vibe and aged appearance.
I must say the intonation and stability of this bass is outstanding! The 20th fret C on the E string plays in tune with the 5th fret C on the G string.

I'm still loving my CVP. Even more so now I have a lakland maple/maple JO neck on it.
It's not a perfect fit as the neck pocket is a slighty larger than the heel of the neck but it's stable enough to not need much work and looks much nicer (IMO) than the rosewood fret board.
