Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 2)

I just got my Squier CV 50 Precision back from the luthier, who defretted it, and put BEAD strings (Chromes) on it, and also put in another jack out (the original sat loose, and made cracking noises). The decal (and thus new name, "Squier Blue Baby Imprecision" in full) is my own. The antique pearl pickguard is from Jeannie's. Behold!

Wonderful, very double-bass-like sound, this instrument really SINGS! Very comfy too, especially compared to the slightly neck-
diving VM Jaguar. A winner!

What did the pickguard run ya....i painted my stock one but would like to do a cream pearl possibly.

Finally got the tracking info, my new butterscotch blonde will be here Monday!

I think now, when they decide to do a new color in the CV 60s Pbass, they should do the 3 tone sunburst w/tort guard. When I think of a 60's PBass, I think about Jamersons 62 Funk Machine!

Just get the Squier guard from Fender. $24.99. I paid GC a little under $30 with shipping and taxes. Sure beats $59.00 and it looks great. See page 4 (maybe 5), I disremember.

Man, I played one of these today at the local GC.

It is one niiiice piece of gear. Really, really loved the looks of it (I like LPB, but the 'scotch sure fits the "classic" look of the pre-'57 P bass to me.)

But what's more--it just felt so great to play. Loved the neck, the bass was light. Played effortlessly. You've gonna love it.

Let us know when you get it in your hot little hands.

I am going to buy a 60's Precision next friday, but I don't know if I like Fiesta Red or Sonic Blue

I want to know, had anyone replaced the tort pickguard on the fiesta red with a white one? Because if I buy that one, that's the way I like it. Please share some photos if you have replaced it

Ive replaced the PG on mine with a black one, and did try a White but IMO neither really helped with the look. I too don't really like the red but I'm not going to let that stop me using it.

I had the idea to cut the pickguard like that, so I took off the guard and made a paper template to see what it would look like. I thought it looked awesome as did everyone else I showed. So I cut the pickguard.

I just think it looks better this way. I always thought the original style pickguard looked like a giant piece of goofy plastic attached to a beautiful body. This design, imho, reminds me of decorative trim on a classic car that accentuates the lines of the bass instead of taking away from it.

Plus I'm pretty sure no one else has done it, so I guess I have that going for me at least.

i have seen this bass pop up a few times now, i like what you have done to it.

I completely agree with you about the classic car look thing, and for some reason i have always(especially with fenders) seen some sort of weird corralation between classic cars and bass/guitars i.e. in the looks and the names(mustang, jaguar etc) and then both coming out the 1950s era

Would dumping the stock pickups in the CV Jazz Bass and going with the Fender Original Jazz Bass pickups instead give it better tone?
I want to match (or get as close to as possible) the tone that my Geddy lee Jazz Bass has.

Although it sounds like a good plan, I've found the CV Jazz to sound accurately like the stock 60's jazz it's portraying.

UPS just dropped my bass off and I'm lovin' it....as far as looks go. Went to grab my camera and the battery was dead, so got it on charge. I did snap a few not so great pics with my phone though...

The chrome bridge cover fits over the stock bridge, but I still think I'm gonna have it changed it out with a vintage style bridge...just for the vintage look if I remove the covers.

I also have a tort pickguard on the way, can't wait to see what its gonna look like on here....although the black looks good.

But yea, I love everything about it so far. Gonna play around with more this evening.

I played this the other day. Amazing neck. Seemed more quality than the blue one's I had played, though I bet it all comes from the same stockpile.
