The tort guard came in today and it's a keeper. I really like it. I know the black looks awesome and classic. So, I'm gonna hold onto it in case I do want to switch back. Didn't have time to actually put it on, but laid it over the black guard and snapped a shot with the camera phone.

(never been a fan of those sitting-in-the-way ashtrays, but the ones applied here give especially this instrument a very elegant touch)

I tried one of the butterscotch CV 50's at my store today... wow!
I can honestly say it was one of the best new basses I've played!

My only gripe was the single ply pickguard was poorly cut out.

I'd swap out the tuners for some vintage style ones, but that's just my personal preference.

Fantastic bass... pity I don't need one... or do I?

The only plans I have for my CV 50s is to get a pro setup from Brian at The Low End sometime next week. Gonna have it strung up with flatwounds and have the chrome covers installed.

I would like to get some flat top chrome knobs if I don't have to upgrade the pots. Since the electronics are fine right now, not gonna upgrade those yet. I thought about tuners as well but the stock ones seem to be fine so no need to spend that money....for now.

I actually prefer the gloss finish for some reason. I think the $199 Jaguar (Active) is a different beast to the block neck (passive) Jaguar, so that may well be satin. The active one seemed like basic lumber in my hands (as I mentioned, I like gloss).

By the way, I did get the Fiesta Red CV Precision today. Do I get a number, or do I have to show pictures?
I can describe it for you... Yep, like all the others, but with the tug bar removed now. :bassist:

I'll have to get some pics, but I have officially joined this club. I just bought a CV '60's PBass. Sold my VM Jazz to do it, and couldn't be happier. This is the bass I always wanted, I just didn't realize it. Never bought into the whole PBass is best mindset, and didn't believe that the CV Squier line could be all that well built. Now I know. This bass is better built than my MIM Jazz! Great instrument.

Those covers look so cool (much more elegant than whatever bridge or pu cover I ever saw), with that "wing"-like design looking as if it were pointing towards the neck, that I'm even considering putting the same on my "Blue Baby" LPB... if it weren't for (if I remember well) your mentioning the ill-fitting of the bridge cover upon the hi-mass bridge. :crying: I prefer that bridge largely over a vintage one or even standard one...

You can make the cover work on the HM bridge. It just doesnt hide the bridge as well as the smaller. But it does fit over.

Yea, they both look good and easy to change if I want to.

I did end up buying that tinted 50s CV neck on ebay. I thought about goin' ahead and buyin' the body too. Not gonna go any further on my Jazz project. Just gonna keep it the way it is. Havin' a bass refinished just costs too much. If I thought I could do it myself, I would give it a try.

The plan now is to purchase the VM Telecaster bass. I will then remove the hardware from the light color neck and put it on the tinted neck (hopefully the tuners are the same) and put the tinted neck on the TB body.

Played a gig with my new Precision last night. Drummer commented on the sound of it. It just growls.
My cherished Jazz sat on the stand all night. This Precision is wonderful (lighter than my Jazz too).

So, pic to prove it attached. Number please (although I won't sig it!!!). :bassist:
