I was gonna ask if you had thrown some EMG's there. Never heard about the SBS before, I'm... intrigued
SBS is not well known in the world. It's made by one guy in Slovakia. I must say he's really an expert and the pickups are just great. He's famous here in Czech Rep and Slovakia mainly for his individual approach to each and every order. He asks what sound you are expecting from the pickups and then he just does it. Magic!
After sitting with my VM for a while and playing at practice, the electronics seem to be the weak link. Its got very decent acoustic tone. Not great but very good. I seen a Ultra Jazz prewired set with prewired plate and pots on Guitar Centers webs site so ill probably go with that.

Are people finding that standard 13-hole Fender USA/Mexico pickguards fit well on the Chinese CV basses?
I have black on mine, which at first I wasn't sure of but decided I do like it. Sorry about the crappy cell phone picture, but it gives you the idea.

If I were to put a mint pickguard on my 60s P, I would prefer it not have the notch for the trussrod because it adjusts at the headstock. Accordingly, I wonder if a Warmoth pickguard would work and fit well.
Someone here said that Warmoth's mint green is TOO green, not pale enough to look "vintage," which is the look I would want. So, in my case, maybe parchment is a better choice.
