That's definitely unique! I have found that when I have to be patient and wait for the "right time" to purchase something. it makes the experience that much more exciting and rewarding. Your bass will look great with that pickguard. Pics when it happens

I hope that this club and thread doesn't get shut down and locked. Everyone has their own preferences. We can agree to disagree without being disagreeable . There seems to be a lot of this foolishness going on Talkbass lately. Its really getting old. I refuse to participate in it.

I want to like it, but it's an INDO bass, and apparently talking about these is forbidden here now... LOL! I don't want you to get accused of bullying anybody because you've posted pictures of such an inferior bass
Normally pearloid-type guards aren't my thing, but I actually think that looks pretty snazzy, especially with the burst finish. Which also isn't normally my thing! But apparently two "wrongs" here can make it right
Oh, and those knobs are a nice little touch, too. Good work all 'round!

Don't have a 50's (yet) but I have a few Indo's and enjoy them all...

every post i see of you is "indo cv sux cic cv best" some sort of obsession like a broken record over and over. not just this thread. any thread. especially if it mentions fender or squier i can expect to see your face pop up ready to preach/rant. even if the threads were separated like you humorously suggest, you would still post in the other thread daily your indo cv/cic cv rant

Yep FSR, congratulations! I had one in my cart yesterday after @Bassiclees was kind enough to post up the link, had put in cart added my shipping/billing info:
Went to get my bank card out of my wallet and when I got back to enter card info hit the purchase button it was greyed out as in (no longer available)
was bummed checked this this morning for the hellofit, low and behold available!So my guess is they must be limiting per day purchases to get
through the labour day sale...

Im hoping you guys get some good examples and enjoy them for many years to come. If not, there are a few good looking CIC examples in the classifieds. Maybe you can get a good deal on one.
I agree that the snobbery is going to cause more trouble than good, and I'd hate to see this thread locked or shut down. No need to separate the thread into separate Chinese/Indonesian threads like some kind of feuding mountaineers!!!

What I can say is that I prefer the tone of the Chinese P Bass pickups over the Indonesian. It's perfectly reasonable to believe that the opposite can be true for the next guy.
The new Indonesian models don't require major surgery to change over to a standard vintage style bridge… And the fact that they already come with them is also a plus if you don't like the weird semi high mass bridge on the Chinese models. I've gotta give the edge to the Indos on this one!

if you really care about your headstock saying "china" in small font on the back - sweetwater has been selling classic vibe jazz basses in daphne blue, and p basses in Olympic white that are made in china . it's possible they're in the process of switching back to china , or just doing a random mix now. every example is now CMH serial with "china" on the back of the headstock

Never heard of a leather pickguard until now. That's a great look for an old school country and western band.
This is an interesting development, however, I don't give a monkeys bunghole where the instrument was made as long as the quality to price ratio is comparable to what made classic vibes so great in the first place. Ever the skeptic, I assumed that Sweetwater was probably using an old stock photo of the back of the headstock to keep the serial numbers private for potential buyers. I was wrong, and here are some images from the two links you posted. One is the P bass and one is the jazz bass.
One other thing to point out is that these factories can build much better instruments than people think. Eastman (China) makes phenomenal acoustic guitars that rival builds from the big three and even some boutique offerings as well. And they do it for just over a grand. What (American) people don't realize is that they are usually contracted to make "price point" guitars. The quality isn't subpar because they are incapable of building great instruments… The quality is subpar because Fender, Gibson, or whoever else, doesn't want to pay the extra money for the time and workmanship it takes to produce a higher level instrument. This business model works for them because whether we like it or not, it also works for consumers overall. If "we the people" didn't swallow up cheap guitars like it was a hotdog eating contest, they would produce nothing but steaks and would stop building millions of hotdogs. I hope that makes sense… I'm getting hungry.

my jag affinity is china, my jazz paranormal is china, my 2 classic vibe are indo cort, and indo sam .. all 4 are comparable exceptional quality and no noticeable flaws that i can complain about. they are all great instruments.
-the paranormal and affinity (china) both had super loose output jacks that had to be tightened up.
-the paranormal (china) needed pickup height adjustment
-the classic vibe cort (indo) needed saddle adjustment
-the classic vibe sam (indo) needed loose knobs to be tightened
that's it
all of them have no sharp frets or finish flaws. all of them have been rock solid. no hardware or electronic issues. no fret sprout after years in my dry midwest house with heat and air blasting year round.
ironically if i HAD to pick a best one just based on quality control+fit/finish, the affinity jag (china) is the best of all 4 and was also the cheapest! also every mexican fender i try has sharp frets and seems worse than any squier i try. i always try out fenders in stores to try to convince myself i need one, but every classic vibe hanging next to it always impresses me more when i try them out.
