Actually this is funny b/c I got this one from here on TB, from the US.
This one is an absolute killer!! it's currently my main axe (and I own a Lakland Skyline 44-02 :woot:). I've upgraded the pups to DiMarzio Model J and it sounds crazy!! put some Dunlop Super bright and you've got a fantastic player.

I currently am on my 2nd vintage white Matt Freeman. I made a few mods to it to make it have a more accurate 77 p bass look. I also made a couple changes for performance and to be rid of the few cheap parts it has. When it comes to signature, uncommon, rare, or vintage instruments I try not making any mods or very few. If I do I keep the stock parts or parts i removed and replaced. Anyway, the mods I made to the MF bass were, I changed out those cheap small 250k pots and and replaced them with USA all parts 250k pots, and changed the capacitor to a .47 orange drop. That big Gotah bridge had to go as well so I replaced it with the regular stock Fender bridge but I did keep the brass saddles cause that's just a major bonus for the tone. I removed the Squier neck plate as well and replaced it with a fender " F " logo one that those 60s p basses came with. One last thing was I added Dunlop strap locks. I made the bass more realistic to that of not only MAtt Freeman's bass but of a 76-77 p bass as well as making the quality and character of it more along the lines of a fender and not some Indonesian or china made instrument.

Did your upgrades improve the tone or playability for you?

CV50P update ~ tone issue

After few months i play my CV50P with Labella LTF-4A , i found the tone are MID-Lacking , only big bottom and just little edge, little hard to get mix in my band. No problem with pick, but i more prefer finger style (mostly play from close to neck site and above pickup position). Also The LTF-4A's E string sound darker and less solid than others .
I put the stock Fender 7250M back, bring back some MID i need and the E string sound better focus, just i still prefer Low-tension and comfort smoothy flat string surface of LTF-4A.

I look at my CV60P with TiJF344 , why not give the few months old Ti another try to CV50P, even i recall that the fresh from pack Ti sound not right to me while i put on CV50P previously.

And , BANG! The aged Ti make the CV50P tone with great amount of MID present along with less boomy bottom. The E string sound better focus and clear now.

Started on the mods of my 50s CV P in white. Full shielding, Fralin hum-cancelling 10% overwound pickup, Audere 2 band preamp, replace bridge with early threaded saddle type, hand-tooled leather pickguard, Dunlop flushmount straplocks, choice of well-broken in TI Jazz Flats or new D'Addario Black Tapewounds with a block of foam under them. Will post pics when the pickguard arrives.

The different between newer 70p vs my Fiesta red 60p is:
Cv 70 is lighter , three of them I play at GC is around 8lbs or lighter.
Neck profile is different, CV70 is little fatter than 60p. I more prefer 60p neck because I have small hand .
The newer nickel hardware is easy get oxidation than older chrome, the tuning peg on my white blonde CV50p is the great example.
Stock CV70p pup is little aggressive, maybe just cause by the maple finger board.
I dint found any different in both built quality.

deArmond HB and Schaller bridge
The DeArmond HB is less muddy than the former Allpart gibson EB style PU.
No thread about that...
I only had to cut another pickguard (I love pearloid !). It deserves some additionnal work on the edges as it's not super clean...It's hard to see on the pic, but the PG is in two parts.
