I play mine every day. They are really that good. Mine is stock except for the T I Flats. I thought about changing the pickup but there isn't anything I dislike about the stock pickup.

I did the same thing with my CV 70s P. Same pickups, pots, and jack. I also put on some hipshot ultralites. I did not notice any real tone improvement which is kind of a bummer, but it still sounds great (could have saved some $$$). I play with Chromes on my bass.
I believe that most people who have modded this bass have admitted the same - the bass is pretty great as is. Hindsight being 20/20, I bet most would have just swapped in their favorite strings. That being said, I love it now.
Yeah the new pickups and knobs made the bass to me at least, just a little bit louder. That's really all I noticed about the mods I have made.
This is mine 60s Cv side to side his dad jazz. The only complain I have about the Squier, is the "infamous" dead spot at the sixth fret of the G string, apart from that I love it.

Swap with the fender vintage threatsaddle bridge, overall tone become less high but better pronounce in mid, tone is rounder and the G string sound little fuller. I love it.
Since my CV50p has little decay A on E string, I try setup with drop D tuning then the problem gone. Now with the lighter vintage bridge,no just the A on E string ring and sound back to normal in standard E tuning, the D on G string become better sustain too.

I bought a set of Benson Precision Bass pickups for my CV 60P.
First impression with the tone of Benson pickup is great penetration P bass vibe with Fender 7250M string.
It dint has thick fuller tone like Fender 63 pup, but very nice dynamic low mid and mid present.
This pickup also make the G string sound solid than fender 63pup.
The bottom is tighter and less fat than 63pup, but I still can get nice warmth tone when roll off the tone pot.
Even the output is rate 11k , but it as loud as 12k fender 63pup.
This is just my 2 hours test drive report, will share more about this pup sound next.

Just wanted to say I LOVE my CV 70's P. I haven't played it as much recently since I got a Ray34, but I picked it up the other night and my eyes turned to hearts all over again. Such a great sounding instrument, regardless of price or materials. With EB Cobalt Flats, you've got the best of both worlds, sound-wise (aggressive and bright, or mellow and round, depending on your tone knob settings and am settings).

Here's my LPB CV Precision, one piece maple neck w/skunk stripe. We've been friends for a while now. I do love this bass, just something about it. I dig the feel of the skinny fret wire big time. She's wearing fender flats that I think really shine on this bass (tho I don't dig them on any of my other basses really), pickup is dropped almost all the way to the bottom of the route and the bridge cover is stuffed with foam. The sound is a killer Thump with a bit of crackle from these flats. Only real "mod" I've done is a new cream pickgaurd I cut from a blank and kept the edges square/unbeveled.
Very well made bass, pretty much turn key if you dig that old sound.

Squier Custom Shop 51 Pbass.
I just got a CV 70's Precision. So far it seems pretty good, I like the sound and the nice thing is that it's not too heavy, just over 8 lbs. My CV 60 Jazz is over 9 lbs and with my bad shoulder it gets heavy quickly. Thankfully, we only have a 5 song set at church. The only thing that I plan to do is to put flats and strap locks on like the Jazz.
