Squier Deluxe Jazz Active V -- Unbelieveable Bass!

Wow!! Talking about a ramp!
Well, I own a Squier Precision Special V which is almost the same bass except for some details. It's an awesome bass and the thing I love the most is the 19mm and 2" nut.
Mine has:
Sadowsky Hum-canceling pups (drop in)
CTS pots, orange drop, clothed harness
Hipshot HB7 ( drop in also.)
Copper foil shielding
Chrome strings retainer (for all 5 strings)
DR black beauties (currently. I used fodera SS, d'addario EXL and Prosteels. The best match are the DR!!!)
It just kills!! Awsome growl, smooth when asked but grind is it's calling.
Did someone changed the nut? I am having trouble finding a 2" presloted nut or someone to do it for me.

A good luthier should b able to make you one. I need to take mine back to the tech that does my setups and have him make me a Corian one for both of mine.
Picked one up a couple weeks ago...so much fun. After having a professional setup this baby feels and plays amazing. My only complaint is that the pups are a little weak but I plan on dropping the Sadowskys in it pretty soon. My first fiver!

Sadowskys are a direct drop in, you'll love them. Drop in a Sadowsky pre at some time. It makes a very good bass, an amazing one.
Ya, I haven't decided what to do about the pre...I almost feel dropping too much money on it defeats the purpose. However I love the feel and the neck so much that I may never want to "upgrade" to a more expensive bass. Guess I don't have to do it at the same time...
Yeah both of mine are highly modified. Yeah 0 it kind defeats the purpose of a budget killer bass. Even with the upgrades its still a much better bass for the $$ than alot of other basses. Personally I like the Aguilar OBP3 pre the best. I have a Bassmods BEQ-12 in my white one. Between $55-80 depending on version a good deal to try out. Its not bad for the price. Doesnt color the pickup tone and very powerful. But still prefer the tone of the Aguilar.
I thought so too. Then again, after doing those mods, I ended up with an instrument which played and sounded better than others I have payed 2 to 3 times as much for.
Ya at first while I was playing around with it I thought, "man if I ever get an expensive 5 string it's going to have to have this and this and this like the Squier.....wait a sec..."
So I'll probably do the pups first and then judge whether or not i need to do the pre as well. Thanks for the tips; alexofc69 too.
Joined the club on this bass tonight completely at random. Was out with my wife at Babies R Us (we're expecting our first in December) looking at the various holy-crap stuff we'll need, and after that needed a mental break. Thankfully, there is a GC in the plaza across the road. I've been GAS'ing for a fiver for a while now, and having read this thread a time or two, the SJDA5 was on my radar. I played a couple different things, not seeing much that I liked, and didn't really care since there was zero intention of buying anything. When wandering through the used section I turned my head and instantly recognized the sunburst example that's now mine. It's in friggin' brand new condition, still has the original strings, all the plastic protective stuff on it, even the CE and Recycle stickers on the back of the headstock. I played it for a while - definitely needs a set up , which I'll do tonight - but I loved the feel of the neck and just the way it played overall. My wife looks at me and says "If you like it - get it... Happy Fathers' Day!!" I definitely married up. Wasn't a super deal at $300, but I got them to throw in a leather strap and a go half price on a set of Chromes, so that made it worthwhile. Here's a poor pic:

Seymour Duncan SJB5's and a Bassmods preamp have been installed and this thing sounds great. I totally get what people mean when they say the Bassmods sounds "transparent;" with everything set flat there's no difference between the active/passive modes, but the tone controls have a ton of flexibility once engaged. First gig with it is tonight, looking forward to hearing how it sounds with the rest of the band!
First off, I love this bass. Great sound, I love the wide ebanol neck and the clarity it gives to the sound. The pre-amp is not all I'd like it to be but the sounds it has are really usuable. Great Clarity, and that's what I love. Cuts through the mix like a pro bass many times more expensive. Yadda yadda. We've all heard that before.
I'd like to know if any of you have experienced similar problems.
I bought a white bass five years ago from GC and had to bring it back because of the pre-amp. Now I'm on white bass number 2 which I've been using a lot since I got it, many gigs without real issues.
So I liked it so much I wanted to buy a backup, and hopefully one with a little more oomph on the B string.
So I ordered one from musicians friend. They sent me a sunburst with a bad preamp and a dicey truss rod. Bass number 3.
They took it back and sent me, after a bit of wait until they got a new shipment, a black bass with a killer B string. Bass number 4. But the truss rod seemed funny. I had to constantly tweak it.
Finally I did a gig on Thursday night, put it in the case, and took it out at Saturday's gig, and boing! the truss rod had slipped a ton. I could've shot arrows with it! Adjustments wouldn't work. Luckily a family member brought my white one to the gig so I could play something playable.
Took the bass to Guitar Center, authorized Fender Warranty repair guys. The NY and Brooklyn guys are always really nice. He tried to adjust it. Trussrod shot. But it's under warranty. So he calls Fender and they don't have necks to swap out. So they'll send me a new bass. Bass number 5. OK. Pretty good deal.
BUT, they won't have any in until October.And they have to destroy my old bass. Broke my heart. It's like shooting your horse with the broken leg. They put my bass down!! You get attached. Thank god I have other basses.
There's my windy tale of woe. Anyone with similar issues?? I just hope the next one is a keeper.

So far that seems to be the case, no more white Squier Active Deluxe V's being made. I've got the black one customized with aged pearl block inlays, aged pearl pickguard and a bassmods preamp. IMO, it's an absolute stunner and plays like a high end bass. I LOVE IT!!!!!
Sorry to say, but with the addition of Lollar Jazz pups to my telejazz, my SDJAV has become my #3 bass behind my Streamer and the telejazz. As they are all fretted, I decided I would convert the SDJAV to fretless. Previously I have changed hardware to Hipshot Vintage bridge and Ultralite tuners, ripped out the active electronics and replaced with passive including a homemade varitone and 250k pots, and installed Nordy Big Single 5s single coil pups. So now I've pulled the frets and have ordered a radius sanding block and black plastic binding to fill in the slots. See the following for further info -

I just got one of these the other day and can't get over the quality. The neck fits in the pocket so tight on mine. I'm interested in getting one of the Bassmods BEQ-12 but I see they are different models. To the people that have them which one do you have and which one has the parallel/ series switch option?
