I believe that's the Gotoh 203, which is lower in mass than the 201 Warmoth regularly sells and with which most TBers are familiar. They're both great bridges; with the 203 you may need to drill two extra holes for the screws on the neckward side, and if you do your bass may no longer be considered unmodified or "stock," if that matters to you.

Ok so I'm a 51 year old guitar player who just got his first bass. I knew I wanted a light easier to play bass. I love this thing! Definitely a guitar players bass. So... here's what happened when I got mine. Ordered it from Cascio Interstate Music $159 - best price I could find. Got it quick and packaged very well. The thing looks great! Neck was straight, no sharp edges on the frets, finish looks good.
Plugged it to my PA for a test drive wow that sounds pretty good lets test all the knobs woe wait a minute what's that the P pickup has about half the volume the J does oh wait it's back up oh wait it's gone completely. Called about warranty locally and made an appointment to go in the next day. Then thought you know I'm gonna open this thing up and see what I can see. I was a bit afraid of the "Warranty is void if you mess with it" kind of thing but I hate this local music store (there's another in town that I love but he's not a Fender Dealer) and I figured I can open it carefully and they'll never know. So turns out one of the screws for the P pickup was through the edge of one of the wires. Well that's pretty obvious.... Hanging on by a thread the wire just pulled apart didn't have to cut it. I stripped both sides slid 'em together dropped on some solder and shrink tubed it. Put it all back together and BAM all is good! I like the sound with full P and a little J added in. Like I said I'm not a bass player so I don't know what's right or what's not but I like the way it sounds and plays. I'm gonna take it church rehearsal (I'm actually playing drums) next week and let the real bass players tell me what they think. Mine weighs 6.8 lbs. Oh and on the color I prefer white or blond or natural. I didn't like the black or silver - so red was it and I actually really like it! :bassist: oh and one more thing... Number Please...

I think red is the best color choice for the SS too! I have the long scale Jag as well in black with red pickguard and it's really nice looking but the black on black SS doesn't look good to me. My opinion only though.

Well I got mine earlier this evening from gc online - pretty damn good since I ordered it at noon Friday. The (factory) box was beat and part ripped open... Inside the bass was fine though. All pickguard screws seated level, neck is plenty thin especially down by the nut. Couple of paint blemishes the biggest of which is nonexistent from 5 ft away. Looks like they missed the edge of the headstock radius on the corner by the e string post. I don't care about that: I was actually thinking about stripping the headstock before I got it. The other is a small black dot in the middle of the back about the size of a sharpie tip. Again don't care. Especially since it's on the back.

No pics - camera on my iPhone is broken and I have to set aside an hour to deal with the apple store. I know I know...

Anyway, the thing is pretty damn heavy, which is what I wanted since I hate neck dive, but somehow its still divey. I guess the neck is just heavy. I may take the tuners off and try it on the strap then. The neck does seem a little too fat up toward the body. The bass must be in excess of 8 lb - big contrast against my jay turser ss which is pretty much a guitar hero controller.

Set up is not bad but action could probably be lower. No buzz. Fret edges are sharp. Strings are really bright. Will prolly order some d'a nps and take it to my luthier. Pics to come I guess.

Got mine in the mail yesterday.
Plays beautifully, no sharp edges, no complaints. Sounds good and couldn't find a fault in the finish either. Even found myself a hard case to keep it in good condition when traveling around.

Fits rather perfectly into this Ibanez case:

Looks great to me, very happy with this ridiculously low cost bass

In order to measure the resistance of a pickup, you must disconnect one lead from the pots. Otherwise, you are also measuring everything else that is connected to the pot.

Carefully use a solder iron and unsolder one of the pickup leads (doesnt matter which one). Then use your digital meter (ohms) to measure the resistance. Just for reference, get yourself a 1,000 ohm resistor and measure that first. You'll then know that you're doing this correctly.

Ok... new member here and first post (or question). I am a guitar player who is also the emergency bass player when no one else is around. I am looking at the SS. Seems like there is lots of discussion regarding pickups- mainly the "J" pickup being weak. So, what has everyone done about this?

If you have replaced the "J" (or "P") pickup, what did you go with? Seymour Duncan? Dimarzio? Fender brand?

I like the idea of a short scale and willing to toss in some extra $$$ to have a nice sound- I just need some suggestions on what to buy.

Sorry people, I can't find any kind of information on what the case model is. It had no tags on it, no markings of any kind. All I know is that it is Ibanez and obviously meant for a short scale bass.
The guy in the local music store dug it off the top shelf of their storage area, dusted it off and tried it out as a last resort, after we had tried out every other case in the store. It must have been there for a long time before someone came along with a suitable bass to fit in it.

I think this will be the demise of the bronco. When you can pay $20 bucks more and get a better prouduct, why wouldnt you?
Unless they do another sweet "hello kitty" one......
