Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

I've got a feeling the blue is actually the primer. My black has blue beneath it, too.
Perhaps. But the weird thing is not all of the Vistas I've owned have had blue underneath. Maybe it was a change during the production run. Pretty much all of them had chips through which I could see down to the wood. I tried contacting Squier a long time ago with questions about the Vista line and got no response. Maybe I'll call them...

Best of luck. I've not tried to call them before, but I'm curious if they would even have a specs sheet from the Vista series anymore. It was a pretty short run from what I've read.

How is the quality on these Vista Musicmasters compared to a current model Bronco ?

Pickups on the Vista better ?

Also, what is top dollar US to pay for one with a couple of chips on the side of the body ? Shell Pink

I'm going to go look at one here shortly. I know how to check it out as far as fret condition and if the truss rod works.

Way better than a Bronco. String through body, solid hardware, amazingly versatile pick up despite being single coil, the weight is superlight (usually around 8lbs). The price ranges from $200-$500 for a Vista. $200 is super rare. The more common price is around $350, but the pink is a much rarer bird and often goes around the $400-$450 mark. The listing said $400 OBO. I'd start around $300 and work up from there. How much you actually pay is entirely based upon how badly you want it. Good luck.

OK thanks, I'll go ahead and look at it.

Been wanting a short scale for a while now. We'll see.

FIY if anyone's looking to add to their collection: There's an ebay shell pink with a bit of body damage for $400+ and a nicer black one with a little paint crapes bidding at $265. If you're into shell pink, it looks like an inexpensive luthier fix to get it looking nice.

I'm on the way to look at the Shell pink one in Louisville. I'll look it over real good and will post pics if I get it or note any issues if I don't for anyone who may be interested.

I didn't want the amp or stand so I got the Vista and a cool Levy strap. A Fender 20' cable as well, both like new.

Fretboard and frets are in great shape. Haven't looked under the hood but the volume and tone controls work fine.

Assume the control knobs are original ?

Truss rod is fine, and the setup is fine as is. Strings are fine for now as well. Not sure what set they are but they are D'Addario.

Honestly I didn't expect to be all that impressed by it but wow, I love it. The neck, the tone, all of it ! Glad I passed on the new Mustang PJ I tried out at GC.

I think it's going to be a keeper

( sorry about the crappy cell phone pics)

Looks great! Knobs look original. Keep the chips. Looks more rock and roll!

Thanks, chips are just mojo !

You weren't kidding about the hardware either. Might just be the patina but the hardware looks better than any other Squier I've seen. And I definitely dig the pickup.

A few years back I had a MIJ Mustang ri I didn't ever warm up to it. Definitely like this one better, both the neck and the pickup.

I don't see anything at all that needs to be changed except maybe for a bone nut down the road. The stock nut is fine for now.

I knew these Vistas got some love on various forums, but I was still weary of spending very much for Squier. But yeah, after I played this checked it out real well I had to have it !

I just asked what their best price was without the amp and they said " how about 325.00 ? Close enough so I grabbed it !

Torino Red is my favorite Fender finish, but Shell Pink always looked cool as well. Especially in front of my amp lol

Sweet get. The question I always ask with pink is does it look a bit peachy or is it just straight pink? The couple that have come through my hands both looked peachy. Looking under the pick guard, you can see how they used to be pink. The finish on these yellows quite a bit with age.

Mine looks Pink for sure .. my pic of the headstock is awful close to what it looks like in person.
