Love the Sonic Blue P! That will be my color of choice, whenever it is I get a CV. Still have a modded Affinity on my mind. :smug:

Can't go wrong with the Jag, especially with the P/J configuration. I haven't had mine so long, but i'm in love with it. The P pickup is just perfect, very thumpy and "precise" ;). Even with the round wounds I have on it at the moment. The J pickup is under-rated, imo. I'm not a J bass kinda guy, but I love the tone of the one on the Jag and it definately gets the job done. Solo either pup and you have 2 great basses in one. I can't speak of the block inlay, Duncan pickup'd Jag, but i'm sure it's even better.

I just got this from the classifieds. Jaguar with a mighty mite fretless ebanol p-neck. I assume with the just the bridge pickup and the tone all the way down, and proper technique, it should produce the same Jaco-ish tone the VM fretless Jazz does, I hope. I've played a few of those and it sounded great but I've always wanted an unlined fretless. Couldn't pass it up.

That's a nice bass! I saw that in the classifieds

The bass you're talking about is 34" scale, and my jaguar is 30" scale, but also has a p/j set up. I love the pickups. It definitely does take on a character all its own with both pickups on, and I get the short scale thump too, I think its a winning combination. Id like to have a long scale jag now that I have the short scale. I bet these basses are sweet with a fretless neck. I bet you won't be disappointed.

I'm looking forward to it. It's shipping today from SC so now the waiting game begins. I hear Jaco used Rotosound 66 roundwounds but I'm leaning towards ghs pressurewounds. I want mwah but I want to be kind to the fretboard.

Anyone take the pickguard off their Jaguar? IMO that red tortoise shell or whatever it is is horrendously ugly. If you just take it off and leave it off, are the holes very noticeable? Or where's a good place to get a new pickguard. I've seen a bunch on ebay for around 50 bucks, but if anyone knows a particular website...let me know

I generally hate tort myself, fake or otherwise, I can only (just) tolerate it on sunburst and Olympic White basses, evrything lese looks like crap with it to me. If I were to get anything other than a white or SB jag, I would have to replace the PG. Even with those two, I would still think about replacing it

Tort isn't that awful, but the red tort is horrific, especially on black. So if I just take it off to put those black screws, there's stuff under there? Like cavities of electronics and such? That was an terribly phrased sentence but it's Friday and I wanna go home so whatever.
