The one on the left is a 57 Reissue JV Prec, heavily modified and the right one is a clean 62 Reissue JV Prec. Both dated from 1982.

I have been playing since the mid 1970's. I have played Ric's, Ibanez, Fender, Peavey, et al. My main bass since 1999 has been a stock Squier P Bass Special.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but its appropriate here...

My first bass, bought off Ebay for the price of the normal Squier Jazz.

Plan to replace the bridge, strings, pickups and pickguard. Already enjoying it so much more then those 6 stringed thingies.

You can count me in - I've had a Squier P Bass Special for quite awhile now, and it's one of my main gigging basses - I also picked up a VM Jazz awhile ago, and it gets regular stage time as well... Those 2 are in a rotation with an Active Jazz Deluxe, and they both play and sound as good as the more expensive Deluxe...

Hi there, I have not played one myself but a lot of people who have have said that they prefer this over the MIM Fenders and the consensus seems to be that this is a very good bass am planning to get one of these myself in the near future. Pickups are Seymour Duncan designed on the vm basses so should sound awesome

Ok here are some updated pics (since we all love pics!) of my Squier....she started life as a plain ole' Affinity series, black with a white p/g (that I sprayed black as seen in earlier pics...yuk!).
Here she after just starting some upgrades. New b/w/b pickguard, new Gotoh bridge, and a Fender strap (for grins). All from guitarpartsresource.com.

Next upgrades are new SD Quarter pounders, pots and wiring, Fender tuning keys (hopefully ultra-lites), and who knows what else.

Count me in the Squier Club. I've had the Vintage Modified Fretless since February and have played it almost every single day since then! I'm actually trying to stop myself from getting the fretted VMJ since I have no need of another bass...I'll probably break down eventually

Where do you get the cover that goes over the pick ups? That makes the bass look really good.

I found them at an online store. I think musicians friend has them, but they were backordered for over a month when I was looking to buy.
