Squier Owners Club

Very nice!
I'll be an owner of my very own GREEN Squier P-bass soon, and I was thinking of switching out the pickguard. White Pearloid will look nice I've heard....

But it's weird how Squiers have 14-hole pickguards by default. Is it possible to put on 13-hold Fender pickguards somehow? (w/o drilling into my bass)

Thank you , I was thinking of putting a metal pickguard on mine as they look awesome , but I was put off a bit by the price and possible complications when I do finally get round to fitting ashtray p/up covers. Was thinking maybe a dark grey pickguard would look good

Sign me up! Here I am with my black '84 MIJ Squier P-bass with a Fender re-issue pickup:

Those Squiers were probably better than the Mexi Fenders they offer now!
Nice Squiers dude! They are the good ones!

I'm already an owner of a Green Squier P bass.My advice to you is to swap out the pups on the bass first, as they are more than likely 4 pole as opposed to 5.Seymour Duncan do a straight swap 5 pole which is better.Let us know if you source a replacement pickguard as mine is white, and the Pearloid white sounds good.
:D

Ah, thanks for the advice.
I've decided to upgrade the pups to Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pounders, which I hope won't change the style of tone TOO much, but I'll have to leave the J pickup for now because these things cost too much. :crying:

Well, if I'm going to be messing with electronics, I thought why not upgrade the probably-cruddy pots while I'm at it? I'll be getting the Standard J-bass wiring kit off of BassPartsResource.com. Hopefully the three 250k pots are what I need...

Finally, for the pickguard, which was initially the only thing I was thinking of changing, do you guys notice if it's "wider" than the regular Fenders? http://tinyurl.com/34ddst
I hate the fact that they had to change the shape when making Squiers. Man I want it to look as close to Fenders as possible, and I'm willing to redrill the body, but I don't want to risk having the control knobs not fit....

that is the p bass special 5 string,

Just to add my own experience to the thread ,
I have had my squier for about 3 months now. Before this bass I had an epiphone flying v bass (pic attached) which I swapped for the squier because I did not get on with the body shape. I did the swap and expected the squire to sound worse than the epiphone (squier had stock pickups at that point) , got the squier home plugged it in and was amazed by how much better it sounded than the epi , even my girlfriend (who knows nothing about basses) noticed how much better it sounded

Very nice Squiers everyone. Makes me want one even more...:crying:

The Green P-bass I've been longing for seems to get farther and farther away from my reach... My baby, which I bought off Ebay, was delivered to my door when I wasn't home, and now it's off all the way back to the East Coast to it's original owner...

Seller now wants 70 bucks to have it redelivered. I'm gonna have to pay close to 300 dollars for this used Squier, but damnit I can't find one in green...:bawl:

Did you guys have to sift through a bunch of Squiers to find one with decent quality? The last thing I want is to finally pay a surplus amount just to end up with junk..
