Although I have been reading the TB forums now for several months, I am basically a tuba player that has just started playing bass guitar.

I hope that this photo will post as this is my first time trying this and the bass was a Christmas present from my wonderful family.

I am really looking forward to learning to play and to becoming a member of this great community.

Thanks for any help that you will be able to offer in the future.

Kusabi - The Squier Club doen't give out member numbers: you are a memebr if you say you are.

Tuba4 - Welcome to the Squier Club. I would say you are basically a bass player whose first weapon of choice was tuba and now you are adding electric bass guitar to your arsenal.

Actually yeah haha i got the 50's p bass used with a duncan bassline pick up i loved it 2 months and got an american standard and i am playing that now , just never was a fan of the 50's single coil.

So how much of the bass needs to be a Squier for membership? I bought a Squier Affinity P bass a while back and have slowly modded it to the point where the only real Squier part left is the neck. And I have to admit, it's one hell of a neck. Easily the most comfortable and solid neck I can recall playing. Here it is... the Louisville Slugger.

I think this should still count as a Squier...it started as an Affinity bass. I replaced the neck with a Mighty Might maple/maple. Put on new strings, string tree, tuners, pickguard, high mass bridge, EMG select pickups, various gold hardware, thumbrest, CTS pots and orange drop cap, and wallah!:

I'm going to replace the thumbrest with a gold one, which should be here any day now. If it looks good I'll post another pic here.

Great job!

I'm in process of modding my Squier Bronco. Will post photos when done with cosmetic changes.

Money permitting, I hope to replace the pup in the future with a Seymour Duncan Bassline . If I can swing that then the cost of all of the mods together will exceed the $150 I paid for the Bronco new at GC. But, hey, that's okay.

I hold the opposite view when it comes to gold hardware. I just don't like it. It's actually the main reason I haven't bought the Epiphone Flying "V". And I REALLY want the Flying "V".

That and I don't have the cash...

I hope you know I was just kidding. I used to be thin like you and had the metabolism of a shrew... and could eat like one too. But as I got older things changed and now I have to watch what I eat and excercise just to keep from getting grossly obese.

Heh, I don't think that'll happen to me though. The skinny genes runs in my family. I don't think my dad has ever weighed more than 130 pounds in his lifetime.

I'm very much considering picking up a Squier VM Jazz - the natural body with maple neck/block inlays. And what I'm thinking of doing is changing out the decal on top as a proof to one of my guitarists that I play with that they don't suck. So hopefully he doesn't know what the decals should look like and that Fender MIA or MIM have the serial number on the front.... but maybe that will tie into the '70s re-issue thing.

I have had quite a few squiers but here are my current two. A 2004 Affinity J and a 97 Affinity P. The P is odd cause it has an alder body and 21 frets.

If you can't read the blurry text, she's a VM Jazz. I'm naming her "Kelly Clarkson"... killer tone, natural finish, dirty blond, approachable for all, and a ton of thump in the rump!
