Black pickguards with "natural" finishes are very good looking. However, they can be boring. On my VM Precision (amber), I chose an "aged cream pearl", and I think it looks very vintage-y. YMMV, IMHO, etc.

Doesn't make it any less amusing, and I'm a lefty. You can always tell the people with violin basses that a real violin bass is played left handed.

As you can see grain is not nearly as nice as the VM Jazz...but some what matched none the less. I prefer the finish of the Jazz neck rather than the Precision. The P neck feels almost like bare wood where the Jazz has a nice smooth satin finish.

Lastly..my Squier Protone/Hybrid..(not a VM per say..but the neck is!)

Maybe it's because I get it all the time, I dunno. In my experience, it's usually accompanied with the question "why don't you learn to play the correct way and stop complaining you guys don't have instruments?"
At the Squier price points, you can NEVER have "too many" basses!

The thing is, you can re-arrange a drum kit for a lefty. You can make it ergonomic for you, it just takes a little time to set it to your liking. I've tried playing right-handed basses and guitars for years, just could not do it. Flipping them over made them very uncomfortable to play, especially if it's the types with contours and belly cuts.Well, just be glad your not playing drums.

Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative that's it's easier to get a left-handed instrument now than it ever was, but it would be cool to get a good, affordable lefty P-bass that doesn't need upgrades to make it as good as my Jazz.
As you know, we get GAS too.
Well, I don't have a problem getting the instruments I want, I have trouble paying for them. I've started ordering bodies and necks from warmoth, allparts or other places like that and either assembling them myself of paying a luthier to have it done. I've discovered it is no more expensive to order the parts and have it assembled, than buying a name brand bass (Fender). If you assemble it yourself it's even more reasonable. AND the HUGE + is you get exactly what you want, NOT what some manufacturer wants to sell you. I'm currently working on a Warmoth parts P bass.
