Squier Vintage Modified Precision V: who's got one?

Neck heavy is ok but does it neck dive bad?

i found neck dive on a nylon strap but on a leather strap, it sits just fine with no dive at all. feels very good and sounds quite good too.

GC near me isn't carrying them and wouldn't order one unless I bought it (of course, I could return it) and I know a person who works there pretty well. I don't know why they won't carry the Jag 5 and the P5...I think they would sell very well.

I pulled the trigger on this one tonight , it should be here Tuesday .

I won a drawing at one of the local casino riverboats tonight and used part of the winnings to buy this bass , the other part to my savings and for taxes . My wife and I never win anything big at these casinos so this was really cool . I was trying to figure out what I could sell to get one of these and now don't have to . I'll report what I think of it when I get it . The white ones are one of the best looking basses I've seen and gave me major gas .

I used the P5 at a gig last night. Sub gig for a typical dive bar band. Usual Allmans, SRV, some country. The P5 passed with flying colors, sounded just right with the band, and played really well.

Not suggesting it will ever replace my Nordy but for a backup and a jam, dive bar bass it's ideal. In fact there isn't a bass playing situation that I would hesitate to take this to. Maybe I got lucky but, if the rest are as good as this one, they are a screaming deal.

It think the reason you can't find them at GC yet is there is so much demand!

Good to hear! I use Neotech neoprene straps... they've got decent grip & absorb weight really well.

Now I just have to decide between sunburst & Oly white. I love sunbursts, but I'm a little wary of the possibility of poor matching in the body pieces. Tough call.

those Neotech straps should be great!
as far as color...I'm a big fan of bursts too but I wanted something different. I am really liking the OW with tort gard though and am pleased I chose that one.
Really, the finish on this bass is quite good...there's a nice grain pattern on the maple 'board...the OW color is flawless, frets are nicely done and in general, I'm just really impressed with the bass. I feel like compared to some Fender P and Jazz basses I've played, this really is very good value for money.
I'll be gigging it Friday night at a large Church venue with a "state of the art" PA...will be interested to see how it holds up as my primary bass this time :) My Tobias will be there to back it up, just in case.

I got mine last week! I got the sunburst model. I ordered it through GC, so when I opened the box I took it over to their tech who immediately set it up, free of charge! I had them put a thicker guage set of strings to get some tightness to the b. overall impressions are great! Sounds warm and beautiful. Volume knob does not do much until you really get into it, lot of dead space between off and loud. B is still not as great sounding as the other strings, seems to drone more than the others. I knew going into the sunburst model that I would be hit or miss on matching.... Sooo the weird part is the bottom half of the bass is actually a flamed top and backside! Looks pretty damn cool, I wish the top matched but ehhh it was okay. I will have to get some pics up tonight as this is my work ipad and can't put my personal pics on here. I might get the oly white just because its such a great to add to it. I use the thick planet waves strap so it's all good on weight and neck weight. I might change out the pickup but it will stay for now! I recommend getting one as long as you can set it up! Again finish could have been better quality checked, but for $250 I'm not gonna judge too harshly. Again wishing the flame was throughout.....

Couple of hurried pics, didn't have time to make them look better. Weight is actually 9.1lbs.

The wood pieces are certainly better matched than on mine:
