Squier Vintage Modified Precision V: who's got one?

I guess I got lucky, mine has a setup that damn near rivals my Nordy! Anybody in the Sacramento area that wants to check it out is welcome.
Thinking about adding a humbucker in the bridge position of my P5... I've this huge "Mighty Mite" Musicman-like humbucker lying around doing nothing... hmmm.
Thanks Bob , did just that last night and let it set overnight . It didn't help , it still fretted out no matter whether I put relief in or out . I had to really raise the saddles to get it to not fret out so I sent it back . Sweetwater is being very decent about it so far . They won't have any of the P bass 5 strings in stock for a few weeks so I'm going to exchange mine for one of the new VM Jazz 5 , the white with maple board and black pickguard and blocks and binding . The P bass sounded good but I guess I'm more of a Jazz bass guy .
That's my big hesitation on a sunburst. I love burst finishes, but if the bookmatching is that terrible I couldn't go for it. I think I'll order from Sweetwater after they're back in stock, since they put photos of the actual instruments up.
Once set up it's quite a nice instrument, I'm thinking of maybe picking up one in oly white, and putting the American pickups and new pots in it
Not on this particular bass, but really like on the B on the GHS Precision Flats on two of my 5 string basses.

I found one of these hanging in my favorite local shop yesterday.
The setup was not great.
It seems I rest my thump on the B string which was NEVER a problem. However, it seems it was right over the pickup. The string kept hitting the pole piece, making a noise. I wonder how that could be fixed......
Other then that, seems like a great value.

Easy fix.
Lower the pickup, and/or modify your technique to not press down on the B string while resting on it.

I think i remember seeing some photo somewhere on here, where a guy had put electrical tape between the pickups and the pickup covers of a jazz bass, covering the pole pieces. I don't remember why, but i do remember thinking that it might alleviate the issue you're having. I also play with a pretty heavy right hand, and absolutely despise the clank/pop that happens when the strings hit a pole piece.
