Squier Vintage Modified Precision V: who's got one?

That was me, I tried to put a stock P5 on mine and found the heel of the neck pocket would need some minor filing. I'm going to sell the white P5 pickguard anyway since I've also decided to go pearloid if anyone is interested. I'm undecided who to have make it since my one experience with having a custom PG made was less than ideal (also, it looks like the going price is $70). In any they will want a tracing.

I have a FrankenFender consisting of a Squier Affinity P-bass body, Seymour Duncan Hot for P-bass pickup and a vintage wiring harness with 250k pots, and a Sprague orange drop and the VM P-5 sounds astonishingly similar... only difference is a slightly lower output on the pickup.

With the revelation of the 250k's in the P-5 I think I'll just leave this one stock and enjoy the serendipity. :)

New arrival and she's a beauty. 9 lbs on my bathroom scale. Grain is surprisingly well-matched. Plastic still on the pickguard. Action is a little high, but I'll be changing to flats and readjusting everything anyhow. Sounds just like a P (yeah!). Good 15% off deal from GC. Just ordered Saturday and it's here already Tuesday morning.

I'm a very happy camper.

I got one too! Why use your humble tax returns on something inane like paying bills, when you can get your first P...

Ordered from a Finnish shop, picked it up yesterday and took it straight to band practice. My, this thing plays easily, even with a wider string spacing than what I'm used to. Also, it sounds very much like a bass guitar. Again, I've never had a precision before :)

My straps have Schaller locks on them, so can't comment on neck dive issues yet. Didn't weigh it either, but it feels lighter than any bass I've had - they've mostly been boat anchors, though.

Bad pic, but the only one I could get before my bandmates showed up :) I'll try and get better ones, in case you haven't seen enough of these already!

Oh NOOO!

Found a low fret. Dang! This took top spot in my quiver until two days ago when I had a not fret out on me. It's the 17th fret and only the G string. I did not see any unseated frets upon initial inspection and have not had any issue until two days ago. Looks like I'll be replacing the fret soon, although I don't play up there too often...

Bah, there are no money notes up there! If the bass is good in the first 5 frets you're fine! :D

I have a cushy neoprene strap, and I don't think the 5er is that much heavier... but I'm wondering if anyone else has had any physical issues come up with the bass. Heavier weight, wider neck, who knows. Anyone else? Thanks!

My other bass is a Stingray so no I haven't had that problem. The Squier is noticably lighter.

I haven't had shoulder or back pain since I started using the Gruv Gear Duo Strap. I can wear the 10.5# Stingray for hours with no discomfort then or later. For me it's worth every penny.
