Stage 81: S/D thread

Show Friday was odd. Had level problems all night. Massive mic feedback. My octave clipped my amp. Man, not sure what more could have made me feel like an amatuer.

My buddy recorded it, so I'll be able to relive the train wreck once he's done messing with mix. Lol. Guess it wasn't that bad. We got more bands that want shows with us.

Dude I hate those shows. When I blew up the crossover in my fearful, it got recorded in HIGH DEFINITION. I can't watch myself relive that moment its too painful.
Glad you got gig offers though. Sounds like the discomfort payed off.

Found this tidbit when I was roaming the guitar shop last week. :)

Got to play through the Dunwich Mostly Harmless preamp more in depth today.

Hooked it up so that the Ormat side of the pre went to the dually and the ampeg side went to the '66.

The ampeg side is perfect, it sounds exactly how I wanted it to. Plugging in and not even adjusting the EQ is sounded fantastic. My Pbass into it with the 66 sounded just like my old svt but with more power and balls.

The ormat side is super awesome. It can get super distorted and fuzzy on its own. But it really showed its true awesomeness when I set it up for a light bit of grit and then slammed it with my demon king.

Combining the two together gave me the best of all worlds. Super gritty and awesome things going on from the ormat/dually. Then huge lows and depth from the ampeg/66.

I was running the DK into both sides of the preamp for the record, so that was coming through everything.

Each side sounds awesome on its own, but together it's just heavenly. Super excited to see how it sounds with the whole band, and especially excited to see how it sounds with the EGC.

Been helping a friend the last few weeks fix up a guitar, but she didn't feel safe doing the stuff herself I guess. She came up today (Sunday) and we went to buy some strings and the store just so happened to have crappy 3x3 acoustic tuner replacements for cheap so got them. Got it mostly fixed but need a drill for the tuner plate screws and some glue for nut shimming.

She's actually the person who introduced me to the store, but she's since moved out of the town, and I guess it got new employees, because she had no idea who they were. I've met them, and ones a dirty old man, and he made this horrible joke to us about how he wanted to take her "guitars" top off and see if she was a keeper. Would have been truly awkward and just all around terrible, but I had literally just told her at my place before we left that it's called a sound board, so she looked at him with total confusion and that saved me from having to get chivalrous and having to alienate myself from dentons only decent shop. Then she got us incredibly expensive coffee (I don't drink it let alone pay for it, but isn't $8.75 for a small black coffee and vanilla latte insane?).

Interesting girl I got zero attraction to her, just musical interest. She just periodically makes sudden plans for us, pays for it all and leaves. I just go along with it as friends. It's just weird cause she never instagated anything until after I told her I had broken up with my ex, and even then I kind of think she assumed I was poor and didn't have a car, because I walked to school and never went out. Nows she's aware I do own a car and have money but still pays for everything.

I knew a girl like that. She started talking to me a lot after I broke up with my girlfriend at the time. At first I got the impression she wanted something more but she later revealed she felt like she would be crossing the line if she hung out with me and didn't want to stir the pot with the girlfriend.

Sucks that she moved interstate. Should really pay her a visit next time I'm in Melbourne.

Zero attraction, she missing a leg or something, I mean zero is zero? Lulz...
Almost 9 bucks for a coffee, it;s only 9 bucks for the sandwich brisket meal at my favorite kick arse BBQ place.
A chick who pays the bill, yeah she is probably going to rape you, lol

any word on your EGC? If you get it before your next show, I may try to make it down, third times a charm.

"Any day now" waiting for the body to get back from the guy who anodizes them. Once he gets it back it should be 2 days to finalize everything and ship. I'm really really hoping it'll be here before our next show on Dec 17th.

ron i emailed kevin about doing a T-bird EGC for me. what scale length did you go with and did you do any additional spacing on the fretboard to accommodate bigger strings?

Mine is 34.5" and has a 7.5" radius on the fretboard. But I didn't get a wider string spacing or anything like that. His standard neck is 1.64" so just a touch smaller than a P-bass.

I've never really had problems with too narrow of spacing using the huge strings though.

This a good rat? Or just run of the mill sewer rat?

Good rat, great price.

It's a 90's RI big box rat. all those came with the LM308 in there.

The Rat2 is the one you need to look out for, some have the LM308, others do not, it's almost impossible to tell without opening it up.

But that one, it'll sound fantastic just as is.

Although the bass adjust mod by FXdoctor is a real nice mod for that pedal.
