New guitar player with the dreads I've seen him live, and in public like four times, and he seems to be a bit of a douche.



Last time I saw him, he showed up in denton for the weedeater show and I said oh hey, saw you with Dixie witch blah blah kinda thing and he looked at me like I said I watched him poop secretly and he just did a 180 and walked away.



Live when I saw them he was extremely cocky and kept flailing around and riding his Flying V, knocking his cable out of his jack. Did that at least 4-6 times.

Dixie witch was great a few months ago when I caught them. No douchery was noted.

Ahhh man busy day, didnt get a chance to give the lowdown on practice last night. Unfortunately I wont be able to read any responses to this post until tomorrow morning.

Well yinz were all right, the Hartke's 1000 watts bridged into the fEARful 12/6's is bass heaven. I really love the warm preamp, my dirt pedals never sounded so distinct and clear and good. Rather surprising, the flanger and delay could barely be heard... maybe its just the amp isnt reproducing the highs of the PA and those pedals are being lost a bit. I didnt really care, I was having too much fun switching between my Rat and Grey Stache. Can honestly say this is the best tone I've ever achieved, and my bandmates loved it too, said they've never been able to hear me so distinctly before where I wasn't overpowering the guitars. Just a perfect mix.

Now for the bad part... I did buy the Hartke from a pawn shop, and I gave it a run-through at home at low volumes for an extended period, but obviously wasnt able to run it through its paces until now. Its shutting down after 30-45 minutes, overheating from what I can tell... it goes into "standby" where its still on and the fans still run (good thing) but no sound. I'd let the fans do their thing for 5 minutes or so and it'd "click" back on... let it cool for 10 minutes or so, played another 30-45 minutes and same thing. The vent where the fan flows out was scaldingly hot to even just put your hand in front of. Any idea if this is a known issue with the Hartke LH1000s? I havent had a chance to research it myself yet.

I'm past the pawn shops return window, and I'd really like to get this thing working reliably if I can do so for around $100... first step I think is researching if its a known issue with any known fixes, secondly I'll be chasing down Hartke customer service. I hear they're one of the best in the business so we'll see what happens.

Here's the rig in all its glory... I'm amazed at the low end thats achievable with this meager stack.

Could be that the fan is covered in dust effectively stalling the cooling process. Pawn shops are notoriously dusty so it wouldn't surprise me.

Worst case scenario is that your fan isn't functioning at the rate its supposed to and not cooling properly. Also wouldn't surprise me.

Yea, I was reading about some of the antics of parcel shippers a while back, in an article written by a fella that worked for one of'em. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised. The first Ampeg 7Pro I got a few years ago, was totally mangled by UPS, as the box looked like it had been drop kicked a few times, and thrown down a flight of stairs. Out of the box, it would work for any longer than 10 seconds, and shut down, sent it back to musicians fiend and the sent Me another one, so I have no idea who wound foot'n the bill on it.

Speaking of mangled ass'd boxes. Got the pitchblack tuner in, and the outside box, was completely smashed to poop. However, it was well packed/padded, so the pedal survived.

I've heard inside stories from Australia Post. Yes, they legitimately throw parcels around like they're filled with cotton or something. Most times they do it to save time but other times they just do it out of spite once they figure out whats in there. For example, if you're ever in Australia and you're thinking about sending bottles of wine through the mail, DON'T. That's the first thing they decide to throw once they find out what it is. I don't even ****ing know why.

And then people get crappy with me whenever I try to sell a guitar and refuse to ship it via mail. No thanks, I'm not risking some derro ******* breaking the neck because he doesn't want to give a **** about his job.

No joke, the Guy who wrote the article, said Your best bet is to NEVER put "fragile" on the package whatsoever, unless Your wanting to give the loaders some extra punting practice.
All said, I'm sure there are just as many good people as there are asshats, working those jobs. So it's hard to say what the odds truly are, safest bet would be pad the poop outa something, and spend the few extra bucks on the insurance, to take care of the asshat factor.

If only everyone at Australia Post wore chainmail and wielded maces to work. Then I could MAYBE forgive the fact they destroy every box in their way.

Hey, on a side note regarding shipping etc...I sold a bass on eBay back in July or August. The buyer and I mutually agreed that I wouldn't ship it to him, rather he would send someone to pick it up. Thing is, he lives a good 5 - 6 hours away so he said it might take him a little while to get to me. Says he didn't mind. He paid for the goods via Paypal.

Fast forward til today, the guy still hasn't come to pick up the bass. I've dropped a couple messages to him over time and the last thing I heard from him was that he would pick it up in September....that was in August. Haven't heard from him since.

What do I do with this bass? He's given me the money but considering he never pick it up, can I just put it up for sale again? Or is it still technically his since he's given me payment for it? Just don't wanna land myself in hot water if one of these days he gets back to me saying "Oh hey I'm coming this weekend to pick it up" and its gone.

Sorry to hear about the overheating problem, Toast. JimmyM posted Larry's new phone number in the hartke club thread not too long ago. I'd just call the man himself. Hopefully it's sorted out before too long. I know how frustrating it can be to get something that doesn't work right.
