Star Trek: Picard

I begrudgingly watched episode 4. I don't know why I lie to myself and say I won't. Romulans, even displaced, pissed off, disenfranchised, sad Romulans know full well that a 100 year old human is no match for a big ass Romulan dude, in his prime, with a sword. They're not Ferengis. They have a sense of honor. Shoot him in the face with a disruptor but mortal combat with melee weapons? The preview for episode 5 gave me goosebumps and not in a good way.

Maybe if I lowered my expectations enough I *miiiiggght* enjoy it. I'm too emotionally invested. Picard's my favorite ST character, TNG my all-time favorite show, and after the movies, not sure I could watch it. Just like all the possible alternate realities in "Parallels", Picard's story can go a million places. I'm ok reading spoilers first :D
Sounds to me like you'll dislike it as much as I do.

Did you see this on Nichelle Nichols FBpage?

Happy Birthday Bobby Clark. Best known to Star Trek fans as "The Gorn," please wish Bobby a happy birthday. We are thrilled he will be at Nichelle's Celebration weekend. Bobby loves chatting with the fans and sharing Star Trek stories.

Raffi calls Picard JL at least a dozen times in the course of a five minute conversation. You don't repeatedly say a person's name when you're having a private conversation with them. But JL. But JL. Oh JL. Get it? They're really familiar with each other. Intimacy and history established. Next scene. Boooooooooooo.

Might be from all the snake skin she is vaping! :D

I liked that. I was sure they were gonna use this:

which is, of course, a war bird and not a bird of prey, but they got it right.

On a side note. Isn't the war bird awesome?

Very, very cool design. They were quite menacing against the Enterprise D in TNG, and it some shots appeared to dwarf the Enterprise.

I've watched up to episode 3. I'm really enjoying it.

I'm a huge Star Trek fan from way back. I watched TOS episodes when they were first broadcast. So yeah, I'm old.

At first, I thought perhaps I'm not as picky as some other diehard fans. But then again, perhaps not. It's only now that I can tolerate TNG. I didn't like it when it first aired. There are some episodes, especially early ones, that are horrible. "Q" is the worst character ever created. DS9 was horrible. I watch an episode or two now and again just to confirm that I still hate it. Voyager is also horrible. Though I do like the 7 of 9 story arc. Love Enterprise. Almost as much as the original series. Hated Discovery.

Anyway, looking forward to episode 4.
