Anyone know where to find a Steiney strap hook? Gibson seems to have stopped producing them. I could use two.

Apparently, Gibson has no interest in making any more as they have been impossible to get for several years now. I just ordered the hook extension from Warwick for their Nobby Meidel headless bass. It will require me to drill one more hole in the back of the Steinberger, but should work great once I get around to doing it. Here's the link:

Spirit XT25 called my name as I walked by today...are we still issuing numbers?

Does anyone know which pickups fit correctly in the 5-string model? I see lots of references to using the EMG HB or HBCS for the 4-string, but they also say for string width up to 2"...and the XT25 is definitely wider than that even at the 12th fret.

Definitely had a *** moment when I figured out how to intonate it...that is...errr...unusual, but I guess effective. I got it done, at any rate.

I needed a 5er, and one that doesn't take up a lot of room or weigh a lot is a plus.

I have the same bass in a 4 string, perfectly fine instrument. I always have to wonder when I see someone has purchased an "inexpensive" bass and the very first thing they want to do is change out the pickups. Absolutely nothing wrong with the stock pups in mine, why not give them a chance before turning an inexpensive bass into something you'll not get the investment back out of in resale (you'll play it out, I get it).

Possibly because I like the extra flexibility and output of active pickups and/or electronics? I appreciate your input, but this world is really cool...we don't HAVE to have the same opinions. I haven't made up my mind to change them out...but I do want to know what my options are, fair enough? I wouldn't have bought the bass at all if it didn't sound at least halfway acceptable...

Also, depending on when yours was made, it may not have the same pickups as mine...older Spirits had passive EMG Selects in them, but the newer ones (including mine) have Korean-made BHKs, so your experience may not be the same as mine...then again, it might. Anyway, it's all good.
