This acronym AHPT™ is also attributed to him. It is Advanced Headstock Painting Technology ™ and refers to vintage Fenders with matching painted headstock and how that tradition was carried on by Fender Japan. He loved any Fender (as well as other basses but mostly Fenders) really excited him

I just saw this last night. Yesterday, I almost posted a thread called "Where's Killing Floor?" because I was sincerely wondering why i haven't seen him around. He was far and away my favorite poster on here, just a witty, insightful guy. I would click on the goofiest questions people post, and sure enough, he always had something fun to say in the thread. I could tell he had some wisdom and never forgot what was important about music.

Never met him, and didn't even know his name was Steve, but It was clear there was an insightful, charming, and three-dimensional person behind that little red headstock icon. I'm genuinely sad to hear this, and I'm sorry for your loss. Your dad absolutely made this forum way way more fun.

Your dad brought humor and fun to this site and I am but one of many who considered him a TalkBass friend.

While I am greatful for your post, it saddens me immensely to hear of his passing. Your pain will ease with time...

It's definitely still hard. He was young and it was unexpected. Finding his account, and having his insights and jokes forever written here makes it a bit easier though. Thank you for the kind words.

Every time I thought I had something interesting to say he had already beat me to it. I rarely post or reply on this forum, but I'm always reading through it. The had were by far my favorites. His obituary speaks to so many of us, and I will make a donation in his name to an amazing organization he clearly loved. RIP

I wonder how long he had been ill…probably not for very long as he used to be on TalkBass, Strat Talk and TDPRI for years now. I would have liked to have talked with him more often…his presence on all those sites will be missed.

Your dad was a good dude, I enjoyed his comments. There was so much information (and humor) shared between the lines, and our interactions from engineer to engineer were always insightful.

I found this by selecting your father's forum profile and its "more options" dialog with "find all content by... "... — in case you are not aware of this feature.

Of course I do not know whether (and when) this may be helpful or not for you and your family — but you could thereby "follow" some of his last digital communications here and probably share some of his thoughts and interests and feel connected...
