Hi everyone,

I am Steve (aka Killing Floor)’s daughter and I wanted y’all to know that he passed away on February 24th of this year. Invalid Link Removed is his obituary.

I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to post this; I just recently found his account. He was very passionate about music, especially the bass, and was a devoted collector of basses, guitars, and pedals.

It’s clear this site meant a lot to him. I’m so thankful he found a community here that shared his love for all things bass. I hope at least a few of you got to experience his wit and unique sense of humor.

He played in several bands around Atlanta throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and music was a lifelong love for him.

Heaven’s band has one hell of a bass player.

Sorry to hear about this. I echo everyone's sentiments that he was a good dude. I'm into bicycling too, so I remember brief conversations we had about that.

Appreciate you sharing and I hope it brings a smile to see that your dad's legacy reached beyond the family and friends you and he knew in real life and to all of us here on the "other side of the Internet." Behind these words on the screen are people who remember Killing Floor /Steve fondly.

58 is way too young. (I lost my dad in 2015 one day shy of his 69th birthday. Way too young. He was an engineer too. Not a day goes by I don't think about him. Knowing my dad, he's probably offering your dad a seat at the pub-in-the-great-beyond and getting him a beer).

This acronym AHPT™ is also attributed to him. It is Advanced Headstock Painting Technology ™ and refers to vintage Fenders with matching painted headstock and how that tradition was carried on by Fender Japan. He loved any Fender (as well as other basses but mostly Fenders) really excited him

I am sure he is playing one with celestial colors @ivyg

"Trees are strong " -- This tree in Villanueva New Mexico, on route 3 survived a fire from lightning and grew again.

I'll echo many of the sentiments others have shared. Your dad was opinionated but respectful. He had plenty of knowledge and was excited to share it, and was equally interested in the ideas of others. I'm sorry for your loss, he'll be missed here on TalkBass.
