Steve Harris Precision Bass Club

I thought I would have already posted in this, but didn't yet. I had to piece mine together as I couldn't afford to get one outright. Found the body on the classifieds here, ended up getting it as a playable bass with a regular neck, but no pickup. Promptly bought the SH signature SD pickup.

Then a bass popped up with the SH neck on it, so I bought it. Joined the SH parts and now had a parts bass. I added the BadAss bridge and a custom SH neck plate. I didn't like the SH Rotos, I went with the EB cobalts. Plenty bright and last a lot longer. Also, standard gauge 105's.

Hey, has anyone found a place to get the Royal Blue Metallic paint that's on the first sig basses?

Closest I came was with a Marty Bell. Here's his blue sparkle sample with my friend's MIJ Harris.

Here's the finished product. This was the current MIM sig model refinished.

I usually don't like the look of the current signature, but I quite like it in your photo. Also, the bass next to that huge poster is just excellent.

Thanks @nattiep
Looks like he's relocating and not taking orders till the fall. Do you mind saying what the paint job cost? I'd really like to find the paint as I have a guy that can apply it.
I's say he's worth the wait. It was about $400ish for it and he even did, stripped it and did it again when I wasn't satisfied with the first time around. I've have him do two other paint jobs on friends p basses. He's worth it.

If not the color on his website was this.

15P brilliant royal blue at .008 flake size. I'd think it's pretty close considering my pic of the sample is on top of a the factory fender sig.

Count me in. I actually have the current stock "West Ham" model and then pieced together my own parts build blue version by purchasing current SH neck and parts and pairing with a Squier CV 40th Anniversary P body in Lake Placid Blue. I had a BA II bridge in a parts drawer and found a guy on Ebay for the 13 hole mirrored stainless steel pg. The ss pg is not perfect, but definitely close enough and looks much better than the mirrored acrylic ones. It definitely adds weight though. I think the parts SH bass turned out awesome and it's a hair under 10 lbs, which is nearly 3 full pounds lighter than my white one. As heavy as the white one is, it's probably more of a wall hanger conversation piece honestly. Although it is well-made and sounds awesome. The blue one I can handle for a gig. 10 lbs is my limit. I saw mention in previous posts about getting a body finished in the blue metallic flake. It looks like the pics are dead now. I might be interested in having one made one of these days. But the LPB ain't half bad and that's what the first SH signature model was made with. UP THE IRONS!

Anyone looking for lighter a SH bass, Butlers music has one for sale. It s a demo that weighs 10.6 lbs. I purchased one from them 2 years ago and they are great to deal with. I am not affiliated with the store. The bass is on Ebay and their store website. They worked with me on price when I bought my SH demo and also a Performer jazz demo a year later.

Hi all you SH Fender lovers. I stumbled upon this absolutely delightful thread while looking for info on the SH Fender models. I recently acquired a 2nd Gen beauty and I must say I'm in LOVE.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed here.
Attached is a pic of my beloved bass, autographed by all 6 member of Maiden while they were on the Book Of Souls tour in 2016 in South Africa.
Up The Irons!

Hi everyone, I noticed that Steve Harris on tour with British Lion was using his signature made in Mexico, did you notice too? I'm referring to the period around 2022.. currently in 2024, still with BL, he's using his signature but I'm no longer sure if it's made in Mexico.. do you have more precise information? I thank you
