Stingray 5 Club!

This is my actual one. Owned several during the last 15 years. Is the only bass that I use live.

Here's my current fever of Stingrays. I actually have a greater fondness for the classics but the 2018 Special is phenomenal instrument too.

L-R: 2011 Classic, 2012 Classic, 2003 SUB5, 2018 Special.

Very nice!

I’ve always wanted to get my hands on a USA SUB 5. I’d like the radius over that of the Classic 5, but I’d likely have to sand the painted finish off the neck (always wanted to sand the gloss off the Classic 5 I had).

I just Scotch-brite the necks of my classics and the SUB. Gives them a very nice satin feel. I do need to redo it every few months as they begin glossing up with use.

True and I’ve done that before, but really like a pretty bare feel. Guess that’s why I really like the typical feel of regular EBMM necks. I’ve sanded down several basses I’ve had from other brands and even done several for other bassists who played mine and loved the feel. I won’t sand the ‘88 SR5 as I’d like to keep it 100% original since it’s part of the first of an era. But it’s got plenty of player wear and a lot of the gloss on it has just come off from being played.
